JOB DESCRIPTION
KRIV FOX 26 / KTXH My20, the FOX Duopoly in HOUSTON, TX is re-imagining how local news is gathered and delivered. We're hiring a live news content creator who has a passion for breaking news, severe weather of all kinds, and owning the big story of the day. At FOX 26, we no longer wait for appointed times to deliver content. We're meeting our audiences on their terms and sharing news content throughout the day and night. To be successful in this role, you'll need to evolve beyond linear television thinking and workflows. You will need to embrace non-traditional storytelling formats that bring relevant, memorable, and impactful storytelling to our live stream, website, social platforms and eventually on our linear channel. To boil it down even further: We're not big on packages and we challenge our content creators to tell stories with less formality, more authenticity (no "anchor voices") and in ways that are tailored specifically to platform. Candidates who can demonstrate how they go beyond turning a package, fronting a live shot and submitting a web story will get our attention.
You'll need to be a self-starter with excellent writing skills and a vision for how each story will be told throughout your shift, on different platforms. The content creator will be expected to participate in the content generation process through creative shooting and editing on smartphones and other devices, distilling complex themes into easily digestible forms using text, graphics and music. You'll need to be resourceful, adaptable, innovative, and results oriented with high energy and a positive outlook.
Strong live skills and the ability to meet frequent rolling deadlines are critical for those breaking news and wall-to-wall severe weather situations which often define the Houston news landscape. We set big goals for audience engagement on social platforms and the content creator will be given the tools to meet and exceed those goals.
A minimum of 3 years of experience on-camera is preferred, but we will consider all forms of on-camera work, not just previous television experience. Robust social media presence is required for consideration. The work you present as your portfolio should reflect a daily focus on telling stories for a digital first audience independent of linear television. You must be able to work early mornings, late-night shifts, weekends and holidays as needed. Houston experiences year-round high impact weather events and newsroom staff must be available to work on site or in the field when scheduled. Must have a valid driver's license.
We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, gender identity, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. We will consider for employment qualified applicants with criminal histories consistent with applicable law.

Lead and conduct market engagement via meetings and events with a focus on driving price adoption. Ensure a consistent flow of meeting insights are shared with relevant stakeholders to improve interactions and uncover opportunities.
Manage the regional team's responsibilities and diary to ensure that a solid back-up system is in place to maintain coverage through leaves or business travels, cooperating with other teams if needed.

Coordinate cross-functional, cross-department and cross-regional collaboration, helping to break down silos and enrich content or pricing coverage.
Work with other managing editors to facilitate successful staff development and retention, maintaining a positive working environment and culture. Champion Fastmarkets' MAGICC values.

To boil it down even further: We're not big on packages and we challenge our content creators to tell stories with less formality, more authenticity (no “anchor voices”) and in ways that are tailored specifically to platform.
Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $79,000.00-89,116.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
