The Senior Copywriter/Editor provides original writing, editing, and proofreading services to support a wide range of departments. This role centralizes copywriting and proofing processes while ensuring brand consistency through clear, effective written communication across consumer, B2B, and health professional audiences. Working collaboratively with the Marketing and Regulatory departments, the Senior Copywriter/Editor ensures that all content aligns with approved language and regulatory standards. The position also provides mentorship and direction to team members responsible for marketing and social media content and supervises a Junior Copywriter/Editor to maintain quality and cohesion across all materials.
But what does this role really do?
Serves as primary company copywriter and editor to ensure consistent brand messages and quality communication. Types of copy include, but are not limited to consumer product labels, merchandising material, print and digital advertising, product descriptions and catalogs, medical brochures and monographs, blog, e-newsletters, e-blasts, Web sites, presentations and training material, press materials and articles for magazines, and internal communications.
Partners with the Regulatory Department to ensure that marketing copy adheres to approved claims and complies with applicable regulations.
Manages proofing process and traffic projects between various departments. Utilizes proofing software (WorkFront or similar platform) to develop timelines for projects and facilitate meeting of deadlines. Assists with development of content for editorial calendar for the Marketing group.
Reviews all copy for errors in grammar, punctuation, and spelling and check for readability, style, and compliance with legal requirements. Revises materials prior to final publication.
Maintains editorial style guide for key brands; archives text changes and documentation for public relations and marketing material, especially product descriptions and advertisements.
Contributes to the development and refinement of approved language for marketing use and ensures consistent application across materials. and assists in communicating any language changes to key staff members.
Provides leadership in addition to collaborative role with team members from marketing, sales, government affairs, pharmacy development, president, human relations, and customer services to facilitate writing and editing projects, meet deadlines, and come to a consensus on language discrepancies.
Supervises and mentors a junior copywriter/editor, providing direction, feedback, and oversight to ensure adherence to brand standards, accuracy, and deadlines. Reviews and approves their work, offering guidance to support professional development and maintain high editorial quality across all materials.
Supports the Vice President of Public Relations and related department initiatives.

Education: B.A. in English, Journalism or similar field.
Experience: 6+ years as copywriter, editor or journalist. Must be familiar with AP Stylebook and AMA Manual of Style.
Writing Skills: Proven experience and ability to write clear, concise and grammatically correct copy in a variety of different language styles that appeal to various target markets (consumers, health care, retailers etc.)
Ability to maintain a consistent brand voice and create compelling communication. A diverse portfolio featuring a variety of media and formats is a plus.

Responsibilities
SEO-Driven Content Creation
Write clear, engaging, and optimized content for web pages, articles, and other digital assets.

Topical & Keyword Research
Conduct research to identify relevant topics based on search trends, customer intent, business priorities, and competitive gaps.
