The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has an exciting opportunity within our Northeast Region as a Fire Management Officer (Wildland Fire Management Unit Manager) in our North Columbia District.
The East Zone of the Northeast Region is the most active fire program in the state of Washington and features high-density urban interface fuels and complex jurisdictions. Interested candidates should be prepared for a fast-paced, dynamic environment where ensuring safe, effective suppression operations and building and maintaining interagency partnerships are key to success. This position supports the mission and goals of WADNR through fire suppression, prevention, and regulation programs. Responsibilities include: plan, prioritize, coordinate, and implement the fire program within the local fire units.
The Fire Management Officer coordinates with other local government and federal fire suppression agencies, including: fire districts, Washington State Parks, Washington Dept. of Ecology, Spokane Regional Clean Air, United States Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Indian Affairs, US Fish and Wildlife Service, Washington State Dept. of Fish and Wildlife, Kalispel Tribe of Indians, and the Spokane Tribe of Indians.
A typical year's workload for the North Columbia unit includes approximately 150 fires, 200 burn permit requests, and reviewing the Forest Fire Protection Assessment, as well as putting on numerous trainings with local cooperators and WADNR staff.
The Fire Management Officer position requires the ability to foster positive working relationships amongst the other region Fire Management Officers and region employees, while also interacting with the general public, fire service agencies, contractors, and other state, county, and federal agencies on a routine basis. It will require you to exercise your knowledge of wildfire suppression tactics and equipment, forest protection regulations, wildland fire training requirements (310-1), employee leadership, and communication skills.Responsibilities:
The Fire Management Officer is responsible for the following:
* Responsible for hiring permanent fire staff and overseeing the hiring of seasonal staff
* Responsible for assigning work to permanent staff
* Manage the unit's fire suppression program
* Protect life, property, and natural resources from wildland and urban interface fires while ensuring firefighter and public safety.
* Coordinate the unit silviculture burn permit program
* Supervises staff who issue burning permits, including permits for large broadcast burns, silvicultural under-burns, and burning that will consume 100 tons or greater of forest slash, thus requiring smoke management approval.
* Manage the units' fire training program
* Assists with the State Fire Academies and other various Interagency/DNR Trainings.
* Manage the units' fire prevention program
* Provides supervision and guidance to staff in the implementation of fire prevention and fire education activities within the unit. May perform as a public speaker for fire prevention and homeowner protection to the public.
Required Qualifications:
* NWCG Qualifications: Incident Commander Type 4.
* NWCG Qualifications: Strike Team Leader;
OR Any two Single Resource Boss qualifications;
OR Have two (2) years' experience as a Single Resource Boss.
* Wildland fire management experience.

* The position assigned duty station is the unit work center in Colville, Washington. A portion of the work is performed in an office setting (40%), while the other portion is performed in the field (60%), requiring the ability to traverse uneven terrain in all weather conditions. This often requires working long, irregular hours on workdays, weekends, holidays, day or night. These duties may involve fieldwork requiring physical performance, calling for above-average endurance and superior conditioning. These duties may include an occasional demand for extraordinary strenuous activities in emergencies under adverse environmental conditions and over extended periods of time.
* Position requires 50% of time in the field, traveling alone, supervising fire staff on various fires and crew projects. Travel between fires, work centers, and burn permit locations.
* A valid driver's license and two years of driving experience. Additionally, DNR requires state drivers to possess a license that is not suspended, revoked, or restricted (for example, Occupational/Restricted Driver Licenses or requiring ignition interlock devices). This position requires driving as an essential function. Finalists and/or interview candidates will be asked to provide a driving record from all states in which they have held a license during the past three years.

Our caregivers support their clients in activities of daily living such as (but not limited to):
Household chores (cleaning, laundry, dishes, etc.)
Cooking and/or serving meals
Helping clients bathe, dress, and groom
Providing companionship through daily activities and hobbies
Driving clients (as needed) to the store or appointments
Monitoring and reporting on their condition

Washington
only - If you do not have a current HCA or CNA license, you will be required to enroll in our HCA training program we offer (due to state requirements). You will be able to complete the training while working and will have 120 days to complete it.
Oregon only
- If you have not previously completed the state-required 8-hour Home Care Pulse caregiver training, you will be required to complete the training along with the nurse-led medication training before you can work with clients. You will be paid to complete both trainings!
Requirements
18 years+
Ability to lift a minimum of 10lbs and up to 50lb rarely.
Must own a smart phone with capabilities to download and use a mobile app.
Ability to pass a state and national background check
Valid driver's license, auto insurance and clean driving record
Ability to complete state-required caregiver/HCA training as needed

+ H.S. Diploma or GED

Position Summary: The General Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks on equipment and facilities located at several land ports of entries in Washington area. This role requires coverage to ensure continuous and efficient operations. The ideal candidate must be able to pass a government background investigation and drug screening.
Role and Responsibilities:
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment and facilities, including HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and structural components.
Respond to maintenance requests and troubleshooting issues to ensure timely and effective resolutions.
Conduct inspections and monthly preventive maintenance to identify potential problems and mitigate risks.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and repairs.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols.
Collaborate with other maintenance staff and contractors to complete projects efficiently.
Provide emergency response and repairs as needed to minimize downtime and maintain operational integrity.
Operate and maintain tools and equipment necessary for maintenance tasks.
Assist in the implementation of maintenance schedules and procedures
Must be able to respond to a Priority 1 work order immediately, this includes weekends and holidays. Communication must be made to Tigua to provide a detailed status update to be entered into Maximo.
Must be able to respond to a Priority 2 work order via phone call within 30 minutes and be on site within 1 hour plus travel.
Must respond to a Priority 3 work order within 30 days
Qualifications:
Heavy lifting of up to 50-80lbs.
Must be available for after-hours support and weekend on-call support as needed.
Must have the HSPD-12 clearance, preliminary background check and drug screen
The HSPD-12 is the background check in compliance to the Customs and Border Patrol/LPOE standard
Travel requirement with possible overnight stays as required.
OSHA-10 Certification or able to complete in the first 30 days. Preferred
Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and general building maintenance.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in maintenance or related field preferred
2-3 years' experience in basic electrical, mechanical, and computer technology experience.
Conditions of Employment
May be required to serve a probationary period.
An Employment and Financial Interest Statement is required.
This position requires a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
Clearance Required: Must be able to pass a government background investigation.
