As a MLT at MercyOne, you will Performs clinical testing, quality control, and maintenance in assigned departments, independently following established guidelines and predetermined criteria. Identifies problems that may adversely affect test performance and/or results and uses knowledge and skills to troubleshoot and resolve them. Consults with co-workers, supervisors, managers, or Pathologist when appropriate.
General Requirements:
Independently performs clinical testing, to include waived, moderate and high complexity testing, to provide accurate and timely clinical diagnostic information to healthcare providers.
Monitors the collection, transportation, storage, identification and processing of specimens to ensure specimen integrity prior to testing. Takes appropriate action if acceptable criteria are not met. Recognizes deviation from expected results, analyzes and corrects problems using scientific principles and laboratory policies.
Performs preventative maintenance and basic troubleshooting of instrumentation and equipment. Communicates problems and potential problems to appropriate staff members.
Analyzes quality control data, makes judgments concerning the results and takes appropriate action to maintain test accuracy and precision.
Education:
Associate degree in a science-related field with a certificate of completion from a Medical Laboratory Technician program from an accredited institution. Military education and experience will be considered providing that the applicant has completed the full laboratory training course of 52 weeks and has at least one year's experience in a military hospital.
A minimum of six months clinical internship is preferred. Those with military education will need at least one year's experience in a military hospital. Certified as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent.
May be hired into this position if he/she has completed the requirements for registration but has not successfully completed the MLT exam; however, the exam must be successfully completed within 6 months subsequent to hiring. Demonstrates professionalism and teamwork.
Has knowledge of and can operate laboratory related computer software and systems.
Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter.

The Gig:
The Chemical Technician plays a critical role in our engagement and customer longevity. What You'll Do:

* Monitor customer levels and responsible for Chemical Inventory & replenishment orders placed at sites under responsibility
* Maintain Wash Key Reporting - Service Report
* Conduct NCS Site Surveys using the template
* Support & execute on corporate accounts (CTC) per the protocols
* Provide on-site revenue program training
* Conduct Technical & Chemistry basic training with appropriate location personnel
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date computer files (SF, Portal, Google & CTM) of customers and their issues
* Analyze customer outputs, and make recommendations on technical updates or ways to increase efficiency and wash counts for the designated site.
Customer Expansion:
Identify areas of opportunity for our account, conduct an initial intake discussion and communicate to sales management
This individual is expected to comply with all applicable OSHA, EPA, Local Regulatory Law, and company safety policies. Management retains the discretion to add or change the duties of this position at any time.
Qualifications:
* Associate Degree in Business Administration or related field preferred; or equivalent practical experience.
* Car Wash experience is preferred but not required
* Basic mechanical knowledge & aptitude
* Ability to communicate internally and externally across all levels of the organization
* Good microsoft office skills and basic knowledge of a computer
* Demonstrated ability to provide the highest level of customer service and support.

As a member of the interdisciplinary team, the Laboratory Scientist contributes professional knowledge and skills in the provision and management of care to patients. The Laboratory Scientist is a Bachelor of Science degree who supports pre-analytic, analytic and post analytic laboratory workflows. Responsibilities may include the following: 1) registrations; 2) registration/billing work queues; 3) inpatient, outpatient or outreach phlebotomy; 4) sample processing/aliquoting/accessioning; 5) urine drug screen collections and breath alcohol; 6) CLIA waived and moderate complexity testing. The Laboratory Scientist is responsible for strictly adhering to detail in the technical performance of laboratory procedures, solving practical and analytical problems, resolving conflict, and implementing constructive change.

Responsibilities
Pre-Analytic workflows
· Greets everyone with a pleasant and professional manner, using patient experience best practice guidelines (AIDET, 5/10 Rule and No-Point, etc.).
· Identifies patients and samples using two patient identifiers, always labeling samples in the presence of the patient.
· Collaborate with nursing services to receive and issue blood products.
· Performs venous and capillary blood collections independently for patients of all ages within specified safety parameters, timelines and pace.
· Performs sample processing, aliqouting, and sample preparation for transport.
· Oversees the collection of urine drug screens and breath alcohol, complying with DOT regulations and/or company protocol.
· Utilizes supply items in a cost effective manner, recognizing when to reorder, and assisting with unpacking and/or restocking items.
· Demonstrates knowledge of computer programs for patient identification, registration, order, sample tracking and reporting test results.
· Achieves basic understanding of lab tests to answer patient questions in an easy to understand way.
Analytic workflows
· Uses good laboratory practice to perform all levels of testing in accordance with procedures approved by Laboratory Director and within manufacturer specifications.
· Performs and documents routine instrument maintenance as assigned.
· Troubleshoots and resolves instrument and equipment issues.
· Assists with the review or writing of procedures as requested.
· Strong knowledge of computer systems used on analyzers, LIS and HIS.
· Monitors technical practices to meet necessary standards, recommendations and requirements of voluntary and government agencies (CAP, TJC, CLIA).
· Works closely with testing personnel with lab procedures/tests/training
Post Analytic workflows
· Follows appropriate reporting protocols including critical value reporting.
· Able to review reports for errors.
· Understands the Quality Management System.

· Assists with training new employees and students, being helpful and supportive in their teaching.

· Attends department huddles, staff meetings and other required training.
· Checks emails regularly for important communications relevant to assignment.

Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.
