**Job Summary and Qualifications**
The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) utilizes skills and training to perform test of samples of blood, urine and other body fluids to obtain information utilized in diagnosis and evaluation of patient medical status. Participates in Performance Improvement activities to assure continuous Quality Improvement. Maintains cultural awareness when dealing with patients, visitors, co-workers and all other customers. If you have experience as an Andrology Lab Supervisor and a passion for women's health and fertility, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team at TFI. This position will provide direction and supervision for all the complex andrology lab procedures required for infertility care and In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF).
Hours: Monday - Friday 8-hour shifts, rotation to our satellite location in Nashville, as needed with a minimum of 2 days per week. Weekend/Holiday Rotation is required.
Responsibilities:
Provides day-to-day oversight of andrologists and all andrology lab procedures and practices.
Ensure and maintain regulatory compliance with appropriate agencies.
Maintain and monitor quality control measures & clinical data to ensure optimal laboratory performance and pregnancy outcomes.
Develop special expertise in the use of and continual improvement to the laboratory database.
Perform duties in accordance with laboratory policy including: the routine examination and analysis of semen samples after and during treatment cycles; preparation of semen specimens for treatment procedures; sperm cryopreservation procedures.
Data collection and submission for compliance reviews, re-certifications, and submissions of data to specified organizations.
Ensure optimal productivity and efficiency.
Maintain sperm cryopreservation records and storage of cryopreserved sperm.
Develop new techniques and implementing new procedures into the laboratory as clinically necessary, ensuring that all laboratory staff are trained and competent in the new procedures.
Work such hours as may be required for the proper, effective, and timely performance of the andrology laboratory, including weekends, according to the operational needs of the department and in support of the smooth and efficient running of the service.
Maintain quality control and assurance of the laboratory for COLA and CLIA compliance reviews.
Be aware of clinical data outcomes and be able to discuss with the clinical care team and/or physicians.
Ensure that the physical and environmental conditions of the laboratory are appropriate for the testing performed and provide a safe environment in which employees are protected from physical, chemical, and biological hazards.
Coordinate Testicular Sperm Aspirations with outside physicians when required.
Develop and maintain all weekend call schedules for the andrology team.
Contribute to team effort by maintaining an excellent rapport and working relationship between lab team, other departments within practice and the Prelude network
Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge and Skills:
High school diploma or GED required.
Bachelor's degree in medical or biological sciences strongly preferred.
Andrology Laboratory Scientist (ALS) certification required for Tennessee.

Responsibilities:
Provides day-to-day oversight of andrologists and all andrology lab procedures and practices.

Job Description:
The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Pathology Level I is responsible for the processing of various patient specimens received for immunological testing performed at TNONC HMS, including, but not limited to, all bone marrow/peripheral blood, fluids and or tissues for leukemia/lymphoma, fluid-based (serum, urine, etc.) immunological tests (i.e. SPEP, UPEP, s-IFE, u-IFE, serum free light chains, and/or immunoglobulins), histological, molecular and/or FISH processing and clinical chemistry testing including diagnostic clinical tests and immunoassays. Follows proper guidelines for safe handling of blood, body fluids and hazardous chemicals, properly recording lab testing, quality control and assurance, maintaining appropriate inventory levels of reagents and supplies. This position is an entry level position in the HMS Pathology laboratory (and all ancillary locations) with the expectation to be proficient with every aspect of processing in all areas of the laboratory.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Completes all aspects of immunological testing, including sample preparation, staining, acquisition, quality control assessment and maintenance of reagents an equipment.
Helps with administrative duties including, completing proficiency testing, Quality control checks, etc. as needed.
Flexibility in work schedules, workdays, and/or assigned areas of work is required.
Prepares reagent stock and working solutions.
Monitors proper use and consumption of reagents, materials, and consumables.
Adheres to laboratory procedures and processes.
Maintains equipment and processes to aide diagnosis and treat diseases.
Follows proper guidelines for safe handling of blood, body fluids and hazardous chemicals.
Maintains proper records of laboratory testing and results as described in the policy and procedure manual.
Adheres to all state and federal compliance requirements.
Performs quality control procedures to ensure accuracy of clinical/pathology data.
Maintains required inventory of laboratory supplies for operations in areas of work assignment.
Proficient in use of the LIS utilized in pathology and clinical diagnostics, including ordering test, rejecting test, reviewing and approving results.
Performs all other related duties as needed and assigned by supervisor/manager.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Ability to make independent decisions, process information accurately, manage multiple projects simultaneously and be organized.
Ability to accurately pipette and maintain sterile conditions as required.
Ability to perform routine maintenance as defined by the manufacturer on equipment.
Ability to collaborate with Pathologist, Lab Manager, fellow employee, and subsidiaries when required.
Effective oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills required.
Strong computer skills especially with Excel and Word spreadsheets.
Knowledge of principles and techniques of laboratory testing procedures and practice.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Demonstrates understanding of proper quality control procedures, use of control materials, and documentation of QC results and corrective actions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Current State of Tennessee Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) License required.
Maintains appropriate continuing education for certification and licensure.
At least two years of clinical laboratory testing. flow cytometry, protein electrophoresis and/or molecular experience preferred

Assist physician offices with all laboratory needs.
Maintain a clean working area.
Maintain patient/employee confidentiality and privacy at all times.
