We are currently seeking a LABORATORY SUPERVISOR needed for our busy in-house Lab within our out-patient medical offices in Myrtle Beach. ASCP Certification is required and at least 2 years of management is also preferred.
Hours are Monday through Thursday 7:45 am - 5:15 pm and Fridays 8:00 am - 12:00 pm. GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Lab Supervisor organizes and directs the daily activities of the laboratory. Responsible for supervising laboratory personnel, conducting and overseeing quality assurance and quality control, Calibrations, Linearity, Supervision of the POC program and collecting, analyzing, and interpreting lab results. The Lab Supervisor works in a laboratory environment That is either independent or part of a larger entity and performs duties that enable the laboratory to function on a day-to-day basis. Unlike a lab technician, a laboratory supervisor has significant managerial duties and responsibilities. Topics like safety protocol, disciplinary action, Staff scheduling, time sheets, performance evaluations all fall under the laboratory supervisor job description. The supervisor plays a role as liaison between outpatient offices. They are expected to schedule office time each month in the outpatient offices to be available to providers and staff. The Lab Supervisor is often required to make staffing decisions like hiring and firing with input from the Lab Director.
Since a laboratory supervisor works on-site, they are also expected to perform many of the same tasks as a technician. They usually must directly apply their technical knowledge and background in the sciences on a daily basis. They will also oversee the work of others.
A significant portion of the laboratory supervisor duties focuses on human interaction in all outpatient offices. The laboratory supervisor must use their communication skills to ensure that management's practices are being followed. The laboratory is a dynamic environment where various workers with different personalities are attempting to work towards a common goal, and it is the responsibility of the laboratory supervisor to make sure that all workers have this goal in mind and do not behave in ways that are counterproductive
In cases where disciplinary action is required, the laboratory supervisor has to be able to convey that action and the purpose behind it without unduly intimidating the worker. Being too rough may cause resentment or hurt feelings or otherwise cause an unsatisfactory relationship between employee and employee. Likewise, it is the duty of the laboratory supervisor to offer praise and encouragement when deserved to promote a positive work environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Day to day Laboratory operational oversight.
Employee scheduling, performance reviews, disciplinary action, resolution and management of employee related issues.
Maintains and supports adherence to Carolina Health Specialists policy's and OSHA safety procedures.
Laboratory Liason between outpatient offices, sites and Laboratory Staff.

EDUCATION: B.S. Degree, or equivalent preferably in Medical Laboratory Science or related field.
ASCP, NCA, AMT or ABHI certification required.
EXPERIENCE: 3 to 5 years laboratory experience required, which includes at least 2 years in a management role.

The Cath. Lab Tech performs all routine diagnostic and emergent therapeutic angiographic or catheterization procedures. Assures equipment is functioning properly. Produces and evaluates data, information, and images used by the physician in the performance of the procedure. Assists team members in all aspects of patient care, monitoring patient's vital signs, interpreting status information and performing functioning in one or more of the following: monitor, scrub, or circulating technologist. Qualifications: Must be within a 45-minute drive from Tidelands Health Hospital for On Call requirements.
Experience: Prior experience as a Cardiac Catheterization Lab Tech, preferred. Experience with physiological monitoring systems, sterile scrub technique, interventional and diagnostic heart catheterizations, vascular, device implantation, preferred.
Education: Graduate of a program of study leading to credentials as RCES, RCIS, RN, RT(R) or ARRT, ARRT VI with current national registry in applicable discipline.
If RCIS, must be eligible for certification by the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA) and apply within 60 days of employment. Internal candidates are required to submit and meet Path and Lab ICCE Career Ladder requirements. A Brief Overview
The Clinic Laboratory Assistant (CLA) has a dual reporting structure and thus requires effective and clear communication among supervisors and clinic departments. Presents patient with an ABN and explains why the test is non-covered. Performs specimen collection, including venipuncture, capillary draws, urine collection, and culture receipt. Demonstrates proper infection control. Demonstrates proper patient identification. Performs proper and prompt preparation of specimen for transport. Performs proper drug screen collection and processing, including chain of custody. Performs waived point of care (POC) testing, including proper documentation of calibration and quality control. Performs proper pre-analytical and post-analytical processing of lab specimens. Answers lab phones and responds to questions. Demonstrates ability to recognize emergent conditions and react appropriately. Provides services in a professional and patient centered manner. Actively participates in lab process improvement project. Responsible for reconciling the interface to properly reconcile lab results. Ensures reconciliation of all lab orders within the computer system. Ensures that all lab equipment is calibrated appropriately and that all lab related logs and manuals are kept current.
