The primary focus of this position is on Research and Development, primarily working with PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), also known as 'Forever Chemicals.' The role involves developing operating procedures and performing tests for various water and wastewater treatment operations.
Responsibilities - The Job could include but not limited to
Develop operating procedures and perform tests for various water and wastewater treatment operations.
Conduct jar tests to determine and optimize chemical dosing for various treatment approaches.
Perform bench and pilot scale evaluations, including columns and batch testing for ion exchange resins, carbon adsorption, activated alumina, and filtration systems.
Collect data by measuring and recording operating conditions such as pumping rates, pH, Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP), temperature, and pressure.
Operate and perform light maintenance on small-scale equipment such as pumps, heaters, and mixers.
Prepare samples and reagents for in-house lab analyses.
Perform various laboratory tests, including Color, Temperature, ORP, M&P Alkalinity, Calcium & Magnesium Hardness, Total Hardness, TSS, TDS, COD, TOC, Turbidity, and Phosphorus/Phosphate.
Pull samples for third-party laboratory analysis.
Maintain reagents, lab inventory, calibration records for lab equipment, and SDS documentation for lab chemicals and reagents.
Manage and communicate data, ensuring cleanliness of lab equipment, plasticware, and glassware used in lab analyses and operating areas.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in laboratory and chemistry, including wet chemistry.
Experience in R&D and working with PFAS is a plus.
Ability to work precisely in solution making, measuring devices, data handling, and instrument operation.
Proficiency with standard laboratory instruments such as pH, TSS, use of probes for measuring process variables, HACH spectrophotometer, analytical balances, and volumetric glassware.
BS in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, or a related field.
Experience in titration, reverse osmosis, quality control, and quality assurance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Demonstrate initiative and willingness to learn and grow in responsibility on the job.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Effective communication with team members to receive precise chemical data and procedures.
Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Work Environment
The work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 7 am to 4 pm. However, flexibility may be required depending on testing needs. The facility, located in a rural part of Indiana, was originally built in the 1970s as an environmental lab but has been renovated with new, clean, and up-to-date equipment.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A Laboratory, Molecular Technologist
A typical day for the Molecular Technologist includes sample multiplexed immunofluorescent labeling/staining, digital imaging, quality control review of digital imaging, and test analysis output reviews. The technologist would be working with equipment setups for staining and imaging, as well as reagent preparations, specimen management, and assisting with inventory and quality management tasks as needed. This role will spend the most time on three main activities: histological staining and imaging, specimen management and preparation, and quality control review checks and documentation associated with high complexity clinical laboratory testing.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology from an accredited institution, plus 1-2 years of experience in a molecular biology testing environment, clinical, or equivalent laboratory environment. And/or have completion of military training for laboratory technicians as high complexity testing personnel. Completion of a 50-week U.S. military medical laboratory training program
Minimum coursework and training requirements:
24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses or 24 semester hours of science courses, including 6 semester hours of both Chemistry & Biology & an additional 12 semester hours in any combination of Chemistry, Biology, or Medical Laboratory Science.
AND Completion of a clinical laboratory training program, OR at least 3 months of documented laboratory training in each specialty area where the individual will perform high-complexity testing.
The Molecular Technologists in the clinical laboratory are placed on a track towards obtaining American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Technologist in Molecular Biology (MB) board certification if not already credentialed upon hire and expected to obtain such a certification within 2 years of employment. REQUIRED SKILLS:

Position Overview
The purpose of this position is to provide technical assistance and supportive patient care to meet the needs of individual patients throughout assigned areas. Work Environment

The Laboratory Technologist will demonstrate multiple analytical and judgment skills and knowledge of clinical laboratory science to provide accurate, timely results. The incumbent uses high complexity methods and instrumentation and will work independently in multiple areas of the laboratory.
Essential Job Functions
Procure, prepare and process specimen using various approved techniques and procedures.
Perform phlebotomy in accordance with established procedures and in a manner consistent with customer service needs and expectations.
Receive specimens into the LIS, verifies orders, understands priorities and communicates all pertinent information.
Validate test orders, appropriateness of specimen and ensure required documentation is present.
Process and organize specimens using standard precautions, maintaining specimen integrity and identity.
Recognize, resolve and document specimen tracking and integrity issues.
Utilize specimen rejection and irretrievable specimen policies to document specimen issues.
Validate and research unusual reference test orders, arrange proper specimen collection, and ensure that documentation is complete and information effectively communicated.

Correlate patient data with other clinical information to assess the possibility of inconsistent orders or results.
Participate in a quality management system to include quality control and assurance of laboratory testing, competency assessment and appropriate utilization of laboratory services.
Compose correlation studies, QC reports, and maintain monthly logs.
Evaluate quality control data to assist the supervisor in the assessment of accuracy, reproducibility and validity of methods.
Participate in section readiness to meet CAP, JCAHO, OSHA and DOH compliance.
Utilize HIS as needed for patient or test order information, and to process supply or work orders.
Utilize functions of LIS to accession, receive, result and monitor functions related to patient testing.
Participate in initial and monthly validation of LIS and instrument interfaces.
Evaluate laboratory data to assess the need for recollection of the specimen.
Correlate patient laboratory results to suspect pathological state, and recognizes the need for follow-up or reflex testing.
Redirect testing to appropriate backup or secondary test methods and seeks to resolve primary testing issues.
Interact with healthcare providers to interpret laboratory results within the framework of medical technology.
Answer inquiries from other healthcare providers concerning test appropriateness, quality, accuracy and procedural requirements.
Assist in the evaluation and development of new methods/instruments.
Recommend process improvements to workflow and assist in implementation of changes to improve operation.
Report and document critical values and read back verifications according to policy.
Adhere to laboratory and section specific Environmental Control Plan.
When appropriate, enter reflex testing codes into LIS to generate billing.
Retain records of instrument printouts and specimens according to policy.

Required Qualifications/Experience
Associate of Science or higher-level degree from an accredited institution in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology, OR,
Equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting the requirements defined by CLIA 88 for individuals performing high complexity testing.
Knowledge of Medical terminology and laboratory information system.
Functional skills in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook.
Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment, and knowledge of legal aspects and liability of nursing practice.
Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A Laboratory, Molecular Technologist
A typical day for the Molecular Technologist includes sample multiplexed immunofluorescent labeling/staining, digital imaging, quality control review of digital imaging, and test analysis output reviews. The technologist would be working with equipment setups for staining and imaging, as well as reagent preparations, specimen management, and assisting with inventory and quality management tasks as needed. This role will spend the most time on three main activities: histological staining and imaging, specimen management and preparation, and quality control review checks and documentation associated with high complexity clinical laboratory testing.
REQUIREMENTS
* Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology from an accredited institution, plus 1-2 years of experience in a molecular biology testing environment, clinical, or equivalent laboratory environment. And/or have completion of military training for laboratory technicians as high complexity testing personnel. Completion of a 50-week U.S. military medical laboratory training program
* Minimum coursework and training requirements:
* 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses or 24 semester hours of science courses, including 6 semester hours of both Chemistry & Biology & an additional 12 semester hours in any combination of Chemistry, Biology, or Medical Laboratory Science.
* AND Completion of a clinical laboratory training program, OR at least 3 months of documented laboratory training in each specialty area where the individual will perform high-complexity testing.
* The Molecular Technologists in the clinical laboratory are placed on a track towards obtaining American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Technologist in Molecular Biology (MB) board certification if not already credentialed upon hire and expected to obtain such a certification within 2 years of employment.
