CITY OF ELKHART - DEPARTMENT Public Buildings & Grounds Part Time Laborer DIVISION Grounds Maintenance STATUS Part-Time (up to 28 hours per week) CATEGORY Hourly, $17 per hour FLSA Non-exempt REPORTS TO Public Buildings & Grounds Department Head DATE December 2025 JOB SUMMARY The Laborer Flex position supports the maintenance and upkeep of City-owned public buildings, grounds, and facilities. This role provides operational support to the Public Buildings & Grounds Department and requires flexibility in scheduling to meet seasonal and departmental needs. The position may require work on weekends and holidays during peak seasons. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Operate power and hand tools, including weed eaters, edgers, blowers, and other ground maintenance equipment. Assist Buildings & Grounds maintenance staff with routine daily maintenance activities. Perform basic groundskeeping tasks to support the cleanliness, safety, and appearance of City facilities and properties.
