The City of Dover is seeking to fill a position of Laborer, (or Truck Driver, depending on current qualifications of applicant) to perform a variety of routine unskilled and semi-skilled manual labor duties involving the construction and maintenance of highways, sidewalks, and storm drainage projects. This is a full-time, 40 hour per week, non-exempt position. $19.68 to $28.44 per hour. Position is open until filled. : General Laborer Job Purpose: The General Laborer will be responsible for assisting in various paving and excavating tasks, including but not limited to pavement maintenance, utilities, road construction, excavation, and groundwork. The individual in this position will work as part of a team to ensure safe and efficient completion of projects. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Assist in excavation, utilities, paving and construction projects. 2. Ability to lift and carry heavy objects and materials. 3. Prepare work sites by clearing debris, setting up barricades, and warning signs. 4. Operate hand tools and power tools for excavation and paving. 5. Core trade tasks for the General Laborer trade include (but are not limited to): production grinding, chipping, burning, oxy fuel and plasma cutting, set up of welding equipment, operating rolling stock as licensed, removal of snow and ice, and maintenance tasks. Additionally, General Laborers may be trained and assigned to work tasks of any other trade classification.
