Required qualifications:
Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or Master's Degree with 5 years relevant social work experience.

6 months of Clinical experience in an HMO, medical group, affiliated model, hospital or medical/office/clinic setting.

Assist clients in identifying and managing personal, psychological and interactive problems, and in achieving effective personal, occupational, marital, and family development and adjustments.
Provide comprehensive social work services in the form of casework and case management by consulting on or developing discharge plans for complicated cases, psychosocial assessments and mental status examinations on behalf of beneficiaries.
Analyze information collected to identify symptoms, determine psychiatric diagnosis, develop treatment plan and/or determine advisability of counseling or referral to other specialists or institutions.

Job Description
Under the general direction of the Child and Family Services Specialist, the Tribal SocialWorker is responsible for case management, services, and recommendations related to state Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) matters involving the Cahuilla Band of Indians.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Provide case management and services, including transportation and attendance at client appointments, court hearings, and other needed services by client's dependency case.
•Maintain strict confidentiality of clients when providing communication regarding cases and services. Use department service operational procedures "SOP" to maintain confidentiality.
•Assist in timely responses to form ICWA-030 and other inquiries from state social services agencies.
•Provide or coordinate supervision for visitation when ordered by the court and other family visits as needed.
•Maintain the organization of case files and documentation of client interactions, services provided, and other case-relevant information.
•Provide prevention education services and presentations to children, families, and the larger tribal community.
•Assist in the recruitment, management, and retention of Tribally Approved Homes for foster and adoptive placement of CBOI-dependent children.
•Establish effective working relationships with staff, community members, contractors, court personnel, and other partners.
•Outreach at Tribal events to promote department services, providing prevention and intervention education and related topics.
•Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
•Must be able to interpret or seek supervisor clarification of applicable Tribal, State, and Federal statutes, rules, ordinances, codes, administrative orders, policies, and procedures.
•Knowledge of trauma, including historical and intergenerational impacts of trauma on Native communities.
•Communication skills by conveying information both verbally and in writing format.
•Computer skills: proficient with Microsoft Excel, and other MS Office programs (Outlook, Word, Access, PowerPoint, SharePoint, OneDrive).
•Organizational skills must effectively prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks.
•Interpersonal skills with building a rapport, establishing relationships, engaging, and easily partnering with people across all levels of the organization.
•Analytical and problem-solving skills must be naturally curious and action-oriented individuals, able to conduct complex relationships and analyze incidents to ascertain the root causes with a proactive response.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING ENVIRONMENT/SCHEDULE:
•Work schedule is 40 hours per week. This is a full-time position (Monday-Friday, 8:30 AMTO 5:00 PM).
•This is a full-time position that may require working evenings and weekends as needed.
•Tasks are performed mostly indoors in an office environment.
•May be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 40 pounds.
•Lifting at least 50 pounds may be required; the position involves standing, walking, bending, stopping, and long periods of sitting.
•Adequate hearing is required to hear/talk with all individuals and to use telephones consistently; work may require using a computer terminal for extended periods and some repetitive motion associated with preparing documents and using a computer mouse.
•Traveling is required, including local, within the state, and national; work is performed in an office setting with some exposure to environmental stress; the noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate; frequent communication with tribal parents, Tribal members, Tribal attorneys, and the public.
