1862

1866

The stone courthouse of Breckenridge County, located on the northwest corner of Third Avenue (the Santa Fe tracks) and Commercial Street, was built in the year of 1866 at a cost of $19,795.00.

1873

Marshall became the county seat in 1873 and the first county commissioners meeting was held there the following January.

Kiel's Hotel in Lynd is called Lyon County's first courthouse because, starting in 1873, county business was conducted there for nearly a year.

1876

A small frame courthouse was built in 1876 for $450.

1892

Apparently well-insured, the county built the courthouse that makes up the central section of the present complex as a replacement in 1892.

1916

The second courthouse was built in 1916 and remains in nearly its original condition.
