The B&R position supports maintenance by repairing and maintaining plant wide and performing maintenance functions throughout the plant as assigned, while working under limited supervision.
Job Description
KEY DUTIES
Perform regular assigned checks.

QUALIFICATIONS
Must meet the qualifications of lower bracketed mechanic.
Thorough working knowledge of single and three phase electrical.
Thorough working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
Proficient at welding mild steel.

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS
General Maintenance Area
Fulfil Line Mechanic duties in Raw Receiving, Plant I, Plant II or Co-Product.
Weld stainless steel and aluminum.
Set up and adjust cutters and Lamb guns.
Properly adjust all shakers and conveyors.
Repair all drive components on plant equipment.
Do sheet metal layout, fabrication, and installation.
Refrigeration/Boiler Area
Type 1/Type 2 Universal Freon Card
2 year certification in refrigeration
RETA certified
Has a thorough knowledge of plant refrigeration, boilers and allied equipment.
Able to operate all plant engine rooms, boilers, and freezer tunnels to meet production needs and within set operating parameters.
Can identify all lines, valves, and components relating to the operation of the boilers and refrigeration in all plants.
Understands water chemistry, treatment, and in plant application.
Thorough knowledge of and ability to repair equipment within refrigeration/boiler areas.
Knows safety procedures for chemicals normally used, their toxicity levels and labeling.
Has thorough knowledge of proper liquid levels, lubricants, and mixtures used in the refrigeration/boiler area.
Thorough understanding of and be a participant in Process Safety Management Program.

Be able to weld, chip, grind and use all power tools safely at different heights on scaffolds, ladders and safety cages.

This position is accountable for the timely installation, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of complex plant equipment and facilities that are instrumental in the efficient functioning of automated production lines and a manufacturing facility operating on a 24 hour/day, 7 day/week operation.
The incumbent is assigned jobs by the supervisor or a superintendent and is expected to complete most jobs, including those of a complex nature, with little supervision. All assignments must be carried out under stringent safety and sanitation standards. Quality requirements are constantly monitored, necessitating equipment fabrication and machine operations within specific tolerances and operational specifications to insure the delivery of food products on time and at the lowest cost by conforming exactly to the customer's requirements. Participation of employees in the implementation of improved concepts is encouraged in all production processes.
Skills required include an intermediate level in proficiency in welding, plumbing, electrical repair, instrumentation, running lathes and milling machines, fabricating and repairing pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Additionally, the incumbent must own and maintain a basic set of hand tools.
Must be willing to work day, swing, and graveyard shift. Some weekend work is required.
Principle Accountabilities
Troubleshoot and perform repairs to equipment that has failed in a manner that minimizes downtime.
During process line downtime, perform corrective and preventative equipment maintenance per assigned schedule.
Fabricate, manufacture or assemble items as indicated on blue prints, sketches or schematics of complex objects and circuitry as requested in work orders.
Rebuild or remodel highly complex pieces of machinery such as gear boxes, motors, etc.
Maintain an appropriate inventory of parts on hand to facilitate timely repair of equipment.
Maintain an up-to-date understanding of the proper use of all repair equipment through an on-going training schedule.

The Mechanic works independently and with other plant personnel to perform preventative, predictive and routine maintenance tasks. This role includes troubleshooting issues, repairing failures of production and facilities equipment, and ensuring maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness. This person provides direction for effective execution of maintenance activity on all machinery and equipment throughout the plant and office facilities. Key Responsibilities
Ensures alertness and constant awareness of the safe operation of moving equipment and other potential safety hazards in a production plant.
Ensures necessary level of communication is maintained with the appropriate personnel.
Ensures the efficient operation of all equipment on the premises by using preventative maintenance and troubleshooting techniques.
Ensures all equipment overhauls, repairs, installations or modifications are completed in a timely manner and comply with industry standards and codes as related to safety and quality.

Join our skilled Maintenance Team at SVZ in Othello, Washington, and play a vital role in keeping our production operations running safely and efficiently. As a Maintenance Mechanic, you'll make a direct impact by diagnosing and repairing essential equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum performance. You'll work on a wide range of systems-from pneumatic and hydraulic equipment to steam boilers and refrigeration units-using your expertise to troubleshoot, weld, fabricate, and restore critical machinery. Your Responsibilities:
* Work safely and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as trained.
* Cooperate, coordinate, and communicate with all team members to efficiently complete work.
* Arrive to work on time and at times, work flexible schedule to come in early and stay late as needed.
* Perform maintenance, repair, and installation work on equipment, machinery, and facilities including pneumatic and some hydraulic equipment.
* Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
* Analyze test results, machine error messages, and information obtained from operators to diagnose equipment problems. Examine parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear.
* Cut and weld metal to repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts, and assemble new equipment including sheet metal, pipe sections, fittings, or plumbing fixtures.
* Diassemble machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs and reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs.
* Observe and test the operation of machinery and equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters and other testing devices.
* Operate newly repaired machinery and equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs.
* Record repairs and maintenance performed including parts and materials used, and order or requisition new parts and materials as necessary.
* Operate and maintain steam boiler, refrigeration systems, electrical and compressed gases and water.
* Calibrate or adjust electronic equipment or instruments to specification and enter codes and instructions to program computer-controlled machinery.
* Clean, lubricate, and adjust parts, equipment, and machinery.
* Demonstrate equipment functions and features to machine operators.
* Ensure discipline, cleanliness, and safety while performing work by complying with safety rules and HAACP procedures.
* Operate forklift safely and efficiently to lift and move product, containers, or machinery.

Pay Range - $26 - 34 per hour
The compensation range provided reflects the expected base compensation only and does not include potential bonuses, incentive plans, or benefits. An individual's final compensation offer will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to education level, relevant experience, training, and geographic location.
Your Profile:
* High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in industrial maintenance, electrical, or a related field preferred
* Minimum 1 year of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
* Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance
* Hands-on experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems, welding, and fabrication
* Familiarity with PLCs, instrumentation, and basic industrial automation software
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and equipment manuals
* Comfortable using diagnostic tools and performing inspections to ensure equipment reliability and safety
* Effective verbal and written communication skills in Englis
Preferred Skills:
* Welding and fabrication experience
* Electrical maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment
* Background in PLC troubleshooting and industrial automation systems
* Successful completion of BBCC maintenance course or similar training
