JOB SUMMARYMechanical Designer utilizes Mechanical knowledge and design skills to develop drawings including process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (PIDs), 2D and 3D equipment and process layout drawings and other design or CAD drawings to support projects in a number of industries. RESPONSIBILITIES Develop Mechanical design deliverables for complete projects to produce a design package that is technically accurate, conforms to industry and client standards, constructible, and efficient. Deliverables include PIDS, 2D layouts, 3D layouts and sections, bill of materials, and construction scope of work documents. Check other resource's design drawings and supplier equipment drawings for accuracy and buildability. REQUIREMENTS Current working knowledge of the ASME standards with the ability to locate solutions to code questions. Ability to identify field devices (proximity switches, photo eyes, solenoid valves, etc.) for the purpose of producing schematics. Advanced and current working knowledge of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, Inventor or MicroStation. Advanced and working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook. Excellent organizational, design and drafting skills. Ability to read, understand, and review engineering drawings (PFDs, PIDs, 2D and 3D layouts). QUALIFICATIONS Possess good interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment within LSI and client resources. Knowledge and experience with process design and installation. Three or more years of directly related experience. Must possess strong mechanical design fundamentals including a background of ASME standards. Job Location: Milwaukee, WI Essential functions: Acquire necessary knowledge involved in the successful accomplishment of his/her duties. Support project engineers with the selection of standard OEM components, creation of fabrication and assembly drawings based off of accurate 3D models, maintain accurate product structures for new and existing products. Prepare complete, accurate sets of drawings including BOMs, technical layouts, multiple views, detail drawings and assembly drawings, cross-sectional and subassembly drawings.
