ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Have a thorough knowledge of department and related components including location of switches, valves, and controls throughout department.
Must have basic knowledge and understanding of tool usage.
Must be able to perform minor maintenance such as: bearing replacement, chain setting, oil/lube maintenance and minor trouble shooting skills.
Must be able to work overhead on a ladder or scaffolding in high areas.

Must take and pass the Mechanical Reasoning Test.
Must properly utilize safety equipment such as a hard hat, harness, earplugs, steel toed boots, hairnet or beard cover, gloves, safety glasses, and welding equipment as needed.
Understand that the hours and days of work are established as needed by operations and at the discretion of management and while general as shown below, may be changed (increased or decreased) by management as required.
The maintenance department works four days on and three days off. The workday consists of a twelve-hour shift.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that the employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The environment is hot, humid, and odorous, with temperatures above 100F on the harvest side. The environment is cold and wet, with temperatures ranging from 28-48F on the cut/conversion. There is frequent exposure to hog blood. The noise level is loud.

Understand requirements of the feature and/or the schematics of the controller / control system, verify functionality and debug/report anomalies to the development team and help validate fixes.
+ **Engineering Data Analytics:** Leverage ability to write and understand computer code, especially Python; apply knowledge of data analytics/data science, machine learning concepts/tools, and engineering and statistics fundamentals.

We are adding a Mechanical Systems Engineer to our team! This position is responsible for working closely with Sales, MechanicalEngineering, Electrical Engineering, and Service teams to create the necessary documentation to sell, produce, install, & operate material handling equipment.

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, other duties as assigned.
Translate customer requirements into a 2D/3D cad layout of a system in cooperation with sales or project teams.
Perform mechanicalengineering and design for the application of equipment into an overall material handling system.
Provide directions for applying correct material handling equipment based on product and system requirements.
Generate specifications, system layouts and Bill of Material for the procurement, manufacturing and installation of the equipment.
Assists in the preparation of quotes and proposals to present to customers.
Work independently to collect information to create the drawings, site measurements, and required information from subcontractors or suppliers.
Create specifications for special features.
Responsible for coordinating and monitoring completion of equipment Site acceptance and reporting readiness of segments for commissioning via signed installation documents.
Attending post project meetings to recommend design or concept changes if problems arose during the installation process.
Preparing and maintaining mechanicalengineering documentation for project procedures and safety requirements.
Perform work as required to meet project schedule
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in mechanicalengineering and a minimum of 3+ years' experience in conveyor and material handling layouts.
Expert at AutoCAD and advanced MS Excel
Ability to travel domestically 25%
EXPERIENCE: Experience with Microsoft Office and Windows. Adaptable, flexible, and pro-active. Strong communication skills both written and verbal. Proven track record working in an organized and structured way. A positive contributor and a team player. Willingness & availability to travel. Related industry experience is an asset.
Additionally, there are infrequent requirements to assist Project Engineers, MechanicalEngineers, Electrical Engineers and/or Field Service Technicians in offsite work involving significantly different skills and environmental conditions from day-to-day requirements (use of measuring devices like calipers, tape measures, etc.). The environment is often extreme temperatures, wet and humid, noise levels above 85dB, climbing ladders and working from elevated platforms, access is often restrictive and requires agility to perform work, machinery which may start and stop without warning and floors and ladders are often wet and/or slick.

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk or hear; uses hands to finger, handle, or touch objects or controls. On occasion, the colleague may be required to climb and work in high places, stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders.

Caterpillar's Corporate Engineering Intern program seeks students currently enrolled in a four-year university to work alongside engineering professionals to learn and apply themselves to project work within their teams.

What You Will Do

* Product Design: Engineer components & systems for Caterpillar products to meet our customers' needs. Deliver solutions by leading collaboration with cross functional teams throughout our value chain starting from the initial concept through production.

* Controls Development: Develop/Implement control system algorithms using Matlab/Simulink for various control systems including but not limited to engine controllers, machine implement controllers as well as powertrain controllers. * Electronic Components: Will be responsible for designing and testing various electronic control modules as well as various electronic components. Will work with various internal Caterpillar clients to understand controller/component requirements, work with suppliers on design and validation of the components, as well as testing the components in various environments.
