Key Responsibilities of the Medical Technologist:

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Screen and evaluate any gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens sent to the laboratory for the determination of possible malignant or related abnormal conditions
Screening of all liquid based cytology, both manual and imaged, as well as conventional slides
Perform microscopic evaluation of cytological specimens following laboratory procedures and workload policies
Ensure proper documentation of workload recording, including screening and non-screening activities as required by CLIA and laboratory guidelines
Maintain absolute integrity in the accurate performance and reporting of results
Meet slide screening requirements as per standard operating procedure
Finalize testing results into the computer in an accurate and timely manner
Provide backup for cytology processing and other tasks as needed
Comply with all safety, infection control and HIPAA policies
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university
Successful competition of an accredited Cytology program
ASCP Cytotechnologist (CT) Certification is required
Prior experience working in Cytology is preferred
ThinPrep certification is a plus
Must pass slide screening requirements and annual CAP proficiency test
Demonstrated understanding of Cyto preparation techniques
Automated and non-automated testing experience is preferred
Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS)
Ability to work independently or within a team
Highly organized and strong attention to detail
Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen

As outlined in the New York State Department of Health standards testing personnel must:
follow the laboratory's pre-analytic and analytic procedures and maintaining records of tests; maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens; adhere to the laboratory's quality assurance procedures, including documenting all:

Job Summary
The Robotic Lab + Woodshop Supervisor (under the direction of the Woodshop Manager), will serve as the director of the school's Robotic Lab as well as assist in a range of additional day-to-day duties throughout the shop facilities. Provide essential instructional support and technical expertise specific to robotic technology in support of the school's entire academic and research enterprise. The supervisor will be a champion of integrating advanced manufacturing technologies with critical design-driven workflows. Manage the day-to-day operations of the lab, including operating and maintaining robotic equipment and performing fabrication tasks that require frequent reconfiguration and attention.
Maintain the booking schedule and material supplies, and coordinate the hiring, supervision, and yearly contributions of student interns.
Oversee and maintain all digital fabrication equipment, machines, and power tools throughout the fabrication shop in compliance with safety regulations and accreditation standards. Ensure security of the shop and equipment, including access for students, faculty, and staff.
Advise users on automated technologies including 3D printing, CNC, laser cutters, and multi-axis robotic fabrication. Support end effector design and implementation for studios and faculty projects.
Research state-of-the-art tools and manufacturing methods, recommend new equipment acquisitions, and maintain existing equipment. Lead continuous development and improvement of Robotic Lab facilities by developing prototypes, modifying tools, and optimizing work-cell setups within budget.
Order, receive, and store materials, maintaining accurate records of inventory, orders, and material usage.

Position Summary: Cytogenetic technologists are laboratory specialists who study normal and abnormal chromosomes in cells, and the relationship to disease and human development. These include birth defects, fertility problems, and blood disorders. They examine the chromosomes present in blood and bone marrow using slide preparations and tissue cultures. Cytogenetic technologists use karotyping and fluorescent-labeled DNA (FISH technique) to detect gene and chromosome abnormalities. As part of the daily requirements for the job, the cytogenetic technologist must know how to harvest and culture living cells, understand chromosomal morphology and chromosomal analysis. These results are then communicated effectively with physicians, family members, and researchers requesting technical information or test results.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to the following
•General laboratory maintenance which includes washing and autoclaving glassware, preparing reagents, ordering reagents, managing the laboratory inventory, general laboratory cleaning, instrument maintenance and calibrations.
•Accessioning of clinical specimens received in the laboratory, include creating patient files.
•Preparation of clinical specimens (i.e. Bone marrow, peripheral blood and lymph node) for clinical cytogenetic tests which include setting up tissue cultures and harvesting of the specimens.
•Have a working knowledge of all clinical tests performed in the laboratory (i.e. Bone marrow analysis and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH).
•Slide preparation and banding.
•Microscopy analysis including photo-microscopy, computer image analysis, Karyotyping.
•Working knowledge of ISCN 2024 guidelines
•Provide the final analysis of all tests done to the primary supervisor in a concise and clear manner for efficient generation of the final report.
•Provide overall assistance to the laboratory staff at the discretion of the supervisor and laboratory director to improve the efficiency of laboratory operations.
•Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
•Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and must either correct the problems or immediately notify the supervisor.
•Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.
•Performs various clerical functions pertinent to the completion of technical tasks.
•Teach/train new employees. Documents appropriately as required for regulatory agencies.
•Assist management in the functions of quality assurance and quality improvement.
•Engages in activities which promote professional growth. Attends continuing education meetings and make suggestions for quality improvements.
Education/Experience:
•Bachelor's Degree in science and/or a minimum of two-year's experience in Cytogenetics and FISH.
Language Ability:
Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Math Ability:
Basic math skills.
Computer Skills:
Efficient in using Microsoft office (Word-Excel-etc.).
Certificates and Licenses:
• New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License- Required
• ASCP Certified- Preferred

• Issues lab equipment and supplies to faculty and students, and assists in services performed by the Technical Services Department.
• Maintains the cleanliness of laboratories, storage areas, and equipment.
• Prepares and maintains a variety of related records and reports that includes the Technical Services Department's inventory of equipment and furnishings.
• Performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs to laboratory equipment.
• Performs related tasks involving skilled laboratory support as assigned on both the HVCC Main Campus and the Malta Extension Center (HVCC North Branch Campus).
This is a 40-hour/week, 12-month position with an hourly rate of $ 24.90. Assignments may be on the HVCC North campus, Malta, NY and/or on the HVCC main campus, Troy, NY.
