JOB SUMMARY

* Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science OR documented equivalent education and training per ASCP Board Of Certification alternate routes for certification

SCOPE:
Perform duties to test raw materials, finished products, packaging & competitor products to determine conformance to material specifications. Continuously supports Sofidel's Employee Personal Practice Policy.
* Maintain safe work area and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules keeping work area in a clean and orderly condition.
* Support Sofidel America's Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP to promote a safe, sanitary and hygienically sound workplace.

* Test Raw materials against established specifications.
* Test Finished product against established specifications.
* Report results of raw material and finished product testing to relevant personnel.
* Release or reject raw materials based on specified requirements.
* Operate the quality testing equipment needed to perform the job.
* Enter results of all test into SAP and other established data collection software.
* Assist with training new quality technicians, and employees to recognize Quality issues and how to report them. Assist with training new quality technicians in the proper operation of testing equipment and accepted quality assurance techniques.
* Process Non-conforming raw materials and finished product and communicate to relevant personnel according to established procedures.
* Test competitor product according to established procedures and data entry into SAP software.

JOB SUMMARY
The Medical Lab Technician performs laboratory analyses, evaluates laboratory results and reports results. Recognizes and solves basic laboratory problems and assists in the maintenance of laboratory systems.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* Education: Associates Degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology.
* Experience: N/A
* Licensure/Certification/Registration: ASCP certification as Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) within twelve (12) months of hire into this position. If hired prior to 11/4/2010, ASCP certification as MLT is not required. Those hired without valid certification are encouraged to take the first available examination after their date of hire and pass this certifying exam within three (3) consecutive administrations of the exam within twelve (12) months of hire.

Knowledge of lab safety practices; knowledge of all lab departments state of the art policies and procedures; knowledge of general lab test results and correlation's with physiological condition; ability to maintain and repair instrumentation and equipment; ability to understand and follow complex oral and written communication; extensive ability to perform duties accurately, efficiently while often under stress; ability to organize work and meet deadlines; ability to be technically adept in all departments of the laboratory; ability to be rigidly accurate in the identification and reporting of numbers, names and results.
