**Responsibilities**
* Responsible for pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing
* Follows standard operating procedures for MLS/MLTs
* Ensures laboratory safety, quality and regulatory requirements are met
* Recognizes safety hazards and complies with all safety practices and protocols
* Collects and processes lab specimens with proper equipment
* Performs clinical laboratory testing, including manual and automated methods
* Collect and manage samples of blood and other fluids from patients
**Qualifications**
Bachelors degree in laboratory or biological sciences required.
Possess a national certification for Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or be registry eligible. Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) also acceptable. Registry eligible candidates must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 12 months of employment. If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice. Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to the state requirements as needed for license and certifications. May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

A Brief Overview
Performs a variety of clinical laboratory tests, procedures and related duties. Utilizes scientific principles as well as technical, procedural, and problem-solving aptitudes for day-to-day laboratory technical operations, quality control, quality assurance, procedure/instrument maintenance and corrective action, test result correlation, and clinical laboratory related continuing education.
What you will do
* Responsible for the day-to-day operations of laboratory instrumentation or disciplines including but not limited to: supply inventory, quality control, calibration, reagent preparation, etc. Initiates and follows through with corrective action.
* Accurately performs basic to complex clinical laboratory tests utilizing theoretical knowledge and independent judgment in addition to established protocol, techniques and equipment manuals.
* Assumes responsibility for distinguishing between normal and abnormal clinical laboratory parameters and takes actions to assure all abnormals are rechecked. Alerts appropriate staff for abnormal results and documents these actions.
* Communicates laboratory data and pertinent technical information to appropriate departments and individuals in an accurate and timely fashion.
* Critiques, correlates and differentiates results of tests utilizing theoretical knowledge and independent judgment in addition to established protocol, techniques and equipment manuals.
* Participates with development of protocols, lab manuals, new instrumentation, lab CQI or other laboratory developmental activities.
* Provides technical guidance to and be primary resource for various team members. Responsible for training new employees or co-workers on new equipment/procedures as applicable.
* Provides instructions on proper pre-analytical specimen collection, specimen handling, and storage guidelines for various body fluids and/or may collect specimens as necessary.

Qualifications
Bachelors degree in laboratory or biological sciences required.
Possess a national certification for Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or be registry eligible. Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) also acceptable. Registry eligible candidates must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 12 months of employment. If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice. Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to the state requirements as needed for license and certifications. May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

The MT/MLT will provide emergency and routine laboratory services to eligible patients of all ages, including children, adults, and the elderly. The ideal candidate will perform specimen collection, processing, testing, and reporting with a high degree of accuracy and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
Specimen Collection and Preparation:-Collect specimens from patients across all age groups.-Prepare and process specimens for routine testing or package them for referral to external laboratories.
Laboratory Testing:-Perform and monitor routine and specialized tests in areas such as microbiology, hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, and serology.-Calibrate and operate analytical instruments independently.-Interpret and evaluate test results, recognizing deviations from normal values.-Repeat tests when results are inconsistent and report abnormalities to the supervisor.
