Job Title: Laboratory Technician IIJob Description
This is an onsite position located at the RTC Lab in Arden Hills, MN. The hours for this role are Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM CT. The Laboratory Technician II plays a crucial role in maintaining and supporting the health of research animals under the guidance of a veterinarian or study requirements.
Responsibilities
+ Adhere to safety and security policies by maintaining knowledge of regulations and complying with SOPs/WI documents and internal requirements.
+ Ensure compliance with regulations, procedures, and data collection protocols during studies.
+ Provide preventative and maintenance care for all animal species, including weights, vaccinations, sample collections, medication administration, physical exams, radiographs, and performing dental prophylaxis.
+ Administer all drug routes including PO, IM, SQ, IV, intradermal, and transdermal.
+ Understand the most commonly used pharmacological drug classes in veterinary medicine.
+ Support post-operative chronic procedures by performing recoveries, pain assessments, record entries, bandage applications, sample collections, medication administration, anesthesia use, vitals monitoring, and abnormality detection.
+ Communicate clearly through electronic medical records, emails, and verbal interactions with veterinarians.
+ Process clinical pathology samples in-house and send them to various labs as needed.
+ Ensure animals receive adequate enrichment and social housing.
+ Clean and maintain lab areas, assist with kennel and animal care, and report health issues to veterinarians and study directors/sponsors.
+ Maintain and back up records to ensure regulatory compliance, including treatment records, data forms, and drug logs.
+ Coordinate inventory management by researching new supplies/equipment and consulting with the manager.
+ Induce and maintain anesthesia, monitor physiological status, and take appropriate actions for animals in studies.
+ Stay updated on equipment, instruments, and veterinary techniques through journals and training.
+ Maintain animal health by consulting with veterinarians, administering prescribed therapy, and monitoring treatment responses.
+ Perform pre-purchase physical and vaccination examinations and communicate suitability to veterinarians and vendors.
+ Assist with/conduct necropsies, label and document specimens, photograph pathology, coordinate exams, and log reports.
+ Assist in pathology assessments by preparing, sending, and receiving specimens according to GLP guidelines.
+ Coordinate lab projects, communicate project status, and maintain lab equipment.
+ Use research experience to aid in study design and conduct, including suggesting study designs, planning schedules, setting up equipment, interpreting data, and record retention.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in animal handling, anesthesia, GDP, GLP, and animal research.
+ AA Degree or equivalent work experience in a related discipline with 1-2 years of related experience.
+ Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) preferred.
+ Experience with animals in a pre-clinical setting, with special attention to pigs, dogs, and sheep.
+ Technical skills in drug dose calculations and anesthesia.
+ Experience with GDP documentation and GLP studies.

Work Environment
The work environment includes a laboratory setting where scrubs will be provided. Employees will receive a voucher for $140 to purchase work shoes. The Manufacturing Technician I supports BMT Production lines related to the process, test development, prototype and test system builds. Support manufacturing operations to ensure continuous and uninterrupted flow of product to maintain production output per established forecasted demand.
Performs hands-on activities such as product assembly and product testing to support the production schedule during times of transition and increased demand or change implementation.
Update, maintain and monitor manufacturing test procedures and equipment. Implement new tools, fixtures and equipment to improve efficiency where needed.
Troubleshoot and repair production systems/sub-assemblies that fails during the production process. Provide feedback to the trainer on all workmanship failures.

Documentation Management
Provides redlines (proposed changes) to maintain the product information structure. Work with engineering to ensure bill of materials (BOM's), prints, process, forms, records, etc… are relevant and up to date in both the corporate ERP system and Document Control.
Use established standard operating procedures (SOP's) and work instructions (WI's) to carry out the non-conforming material report (NCMR) process for physical dispositions, repairs, rework and completes appropriate reporting and documentation.

About this position
Microscopically evaluates (screens and interprets) gynecological and nongynecological cytologic preparations according to laboratory procedures and workload policies. Communicates abnormal or significant findings to the pathologist for review and reporting of cytologic results to meet the needs of adolescent, adult, and geriatric customers.

Department Overview
The laboratories at Children's Hospitals and Clinics are full service facilities that offer a complete spectrum of laboratory techniques for the evaluation of pediatric disorders. Laboratories are located on both the Minneapolis and St. Paul campuses and and provide services on an inpatient and outpatient basis. Position Summary
Medical Laboratory Scientist is responsible for specimen processing, test performance, test result reporting and specimen collection. The MLS provides service in one or more sections of the laboratory with a high level of accuracy, precision and timeliness and ensures compliance with departmental and regulatory agency standards. The Graduate Lab Assistant is part of a team of graduate student assistants who staff the Graduate Tutoring Lab, participate in the Open Source Development Lab and help maintain student computer labs and classrooms.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Assist graduate students with questions related to Software Engineering and Data Science and refer students to appropriate channels
* Provide course assistance and tutoring
* Assist students with computing, connectivity and printing issues
* Keep labs and classrooms clean and stocked as needed, and open as required
* Participate in open source development projects through the Open Source Development Lab
* Assist the School of Engineering Tech Team and faculty with projects as may be required
QUALIFICATIONS

What You Will Do: The Clinical Laboratory Technician is responsible for andrology and endocrinology procedures, maintenance of computer-generated logs and reports related to patient testing and billing, and other lab related duties. The clinical laboratory technician participates in quality assurance and improvement activities on an ongoing basis.
Provide andrology service, including semen analysis, IUI preparation, and cryopreservation to clinical laboratory patients IAW established procedures and protocols.
Provide endocrinology services using the Cobas 411 analyzer and the associated LIS, including sample labeling, data review, and associated computer use.

What You Bring:
Medical Lab Technician Certificate/ Diploma required.

* Review patient and instrument data for accuracy and maintain proper records (i.e., quality control reports).
* Recognize abnormal results, evaluate and correlate data with other test results/diagnosis; interpret appropriately and conduct follow-up action if required; seek appropriate assistance with problems.
* Perform proper notification of abnormal results per policy.
* Achieve and maintain competency for waived, moderate and high complexity testing (checked semi-annually the first year of hire and annually thereafter) in all testing assigned.
* Adhere to safety policies and procedures as established by LMC.
* Provide patient care/support that is appropriate to the cognitive, physical, and emotional needs of the patient group served.
* Perform all assigned testing independently and successfully multi-task as necessary; promote teamwork within the department.
* Perform additional assignments independently such as inventory of supplies, write or revise laboratory procedures/manuals, reports, and other documents.

**Job Responsibilities**
+ Receive and sort clinical lab specimens
+ Prepare specimens for testing and analysis
+ Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information
+ Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance
+ Troubleshoot any specimen related issues
+ Replenish test bench supplies as needed
+ Maintain a clean and safe work environment
+ Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested
+ Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards
**Job Requirements**
+ High school diploma or equivalent
+ Previousmedical/lab or production experience is preferred
+ Comfortability with handling biological specimens
+ Ability to accuratelyidentifyspecimens
+ Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
+ High levelof attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
+ Ability to work in afast pacedproduction environment and meet established turn-around times
+ Strong communicationskills; both written and verbal
+ Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
+ Must pass a standardized color blindness test
+ Flexibility to work overtime as needed

Position Summary:
