**How you make a difference**
As a Licensed Mental Health Professional working in a correctional facility, your responsibilities include conducting intake evaluations, providing therapeutic interventions and suicide prevention techniques, and developing treatment plans for inmates. You will also be responsible for monitoring the clinical needs of inmates on your caseload, providing staff training on mental health topics, and documenting all findings in accordance with company and facility policies. Your role is critical in ensuring that inmates receive appropriate mental health services and care while incarcerated.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Conduct screening, assessments, and triages for inmates referred by security, healthcare staff, and other community sources, and provide appropriate recommendations for their level of care.
+ Develop and recommend treatment plans, conduct essential treatment services such as psychoeducational and transitional groups, and provide suicide prevention interventions and management techniques.
+ Respond to sick call requests, provide medication adherence, and coordinate with prescribing providers for medication evaluations.
+ Provide crisis intervention, oversee the clinical needs of patients on caseload, and participate in treatment team multidisciplinary meetings and administrative meetings.
+ Provide staff training on relevant mental health topics, document all findings in the patient's health record, and ensure compliance with facility and company policies and procedures.

Education
+ Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or Other Related Mental Health discipline
Experience
+ One (1) or more years of experience in a Mental Health treatment program, preferably in a Correctional or Hospital setting
Licenses/Certifications
+ Unrestricted, current license in the State of practice - e.g. LCSW, LMFT, LPC, LMHC, Psychologist - Must maintain all licensures, certifications, continuing educational requirements, etc.

Determine an individual's appropriateness for care management, medication management or therapy and assign to all that are appropriate.
Disposition consumer to appropriate Agency for other mental health services when ineligible for care management.

Assist in resolving any grievance received from a consumer regarding referral.
Fill in for Admissions Coordinator as indicated by supervisor.
Utilize Intake Committee for all consumers who meet criteria who have a history of violence, sexual crimes or serious criminal activity. Write completed intake and email to Intake Committee for review. Contact consumer with decision.
Utilize evidence based therapeutic framework, counsel consumers and patients, individually and group sessions, to assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life and making changes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Determine an individual's appropriateness for care management, medication management or therapy and assign to all that are appropriate.
Disposition consumer to appropriate Agency for other mental health services when ineligible for care management.
Identify individuals that are in need of MCRT services rather than a routine intake. If appropriate, facilitate crisis action.
Assist in resolving any grievance received from a consumer regarding referral.
Fill in for Admissions Coordinator as indicated by supervisor.
Utilize Intake Committee for all consumers who meet criteria who have a history of violence, sexual crimes or serious criminal activity. Write completed intake and email to Intake Committee for review. Contact consumer with decision.
Utilize evidence based therapeutic framework, counsel consumers and patients, individually and group sessions, to assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life and making changes.
Guide consumers in the development of skills and strategies for dealing with their problems using evidence-based modalities.
Encourage consumers to express their feelings and discuss what is happening in their lives and help them to develop insight into themselves and their relationships.
Develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical experience and knowledge.
Modify treatment activities and approaches as needed in order to comply with changes in consumer's status.
Learn about new developments in their field by reading professional literature, attending courses and seminars, establishing and maintaining contact with other social service agencies.
Counsel family members to assist them in understanding, dealing with and supporting consumers.
Evaluate the effectiveness of counseling programs and consumers' progress in resolving identified problems and moving towards defined objectives.

The knowledge base of professional counseling includes theories of biological, psychological, and social development; diversity and cultural competency; interpersonal relationships; family and group dynamics; mental disorders; addictions; impacts of illness, trauma, or injury; and the effects of the physical, social, and cultural environment. This knowledge is inculcated in counseling Maser's level graduate program and is fused with direct-practice skills that are developed by the practitioner during a period of at least two years of post-graduate experience under clinical supervision. This period should suffice to prepare the clinical social worker for autonomous practice and state-licensure as a clinical social work professional. This position requires:
* Oversee all therapy (individual and group) services.
* Oversee scheduling of individual therapy services (delegate if needed).
* Review and sign off notes for all non-licensed therapists.
* Review and update Intensive Outpatient Program curriculum as needed.
* Review all Intensive Outpatient Program authorizations before submitting to the insurance.
* Submit Intensive Outpatient Program authorization requests to MCOs.
* Ensure transitioning of patients from Intensive Outpatient Program to individual therapy.
* Monitor session attendance for Intensive Outpatient Program participants and maintain appropriate contact with MCOs regarding authorization dates and attendance as needed.
* Notify Patients/staff of IOP cancellations
* Assist with Marketing activities for the Mental Health Clinic as needed.
* Develop new Intensive Outpatient groups based on population need.
* Investigates case situations and presents information to Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatrist and other members of health team, on patients' family and social background pertinent to diagnosis and treatment.
* Helps patients to respond constructively to treatment and assist in adjustment leading to and following discharge.
* Interprets psychiatric treatment to patients' family and helps to reduce fear and other attitudes obstructing acceptance of psychiatric care and continuation of treatment.
* Serves as a link between patient, psychiatric agency, and community.
* Works directly in treatment relationship with patients, individually or in groups, in consultation with Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatrist.
* Uses researched based strengths based social work approach to treating clients.
* Can assess and make clinical evaluations of patient's mental health and diagnose mental illness.
* Make judgments on the best course of treatment based upon current clinical research in the social work field.
* Other duties as assigned.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
* Exhibits behaviors and best practices that are consistent with the vision and values of SSMS.
* Practices safe work habits to eliminate and control potential safety and health hazards and to maintain a safe work environment. Attends all safety training as scheduled.

* Operates SSTN and personal transportation in a safe and healthy manner.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position is full time and may require additional hours over 40 per week. She/he is expected to be available outside of normal office hours for necessary and urgent company matters.
Body Positioning: The employee is regularly required to stand and/or walk for prolonged periods of time.
