The Addiction Counselor coordinates all programs designed to reduce and eliminate substance use and abuse and in compliance with the Department of Labor/Job Corps guidelines. Conducts in-service training sessions with both staff and students in all areas related to substance use and abuse. Submits recommendations to the Center Director for medical terminations related to substance misuse and abuse in conjunction with the Mental Health Consultant, center physician, Health and Wellness Manager (RN), etc. Monitors behavior and progress of students involved in the Alcohol and Other Drugs of Abuse Prevention/Intervention Program. Maintains confidential reports and records on all referrals and cases. Qualifications Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) certification or Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) required. Prefer One year of work-related experience. Prefer experience working with youth. Prefer Master's degree and previous experience with disadvantaged youth, particularly in a residential setting. Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record preferred. Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a nationwide criminal background check. Additional Requirements: Broad-based knowledge of counseling techniques. Knowledgeable in the area of alcohol and other drugs of abuse intervention programs. Ability to design, develop and implement a program related to alcohol and other drugs of abuse and interventions. Training skills in both individual and group counseling methods. Good organizational skills. Must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to communicate effectively and relate to the trainee population. Position requires an ability to operate office equipment. Computer proficiency required.
