Selects and modifies technical factors to enhance images; uses flare and SAT imaging techniques + Determines appropriate equipment for scanning up to but not limited to body coils + Must be able to closely follow a physician's instructions, prepares and operates MRI equipment, position patients correctly and effectively record the requested diagnostic images + Identifies gross pathology in the human body and adjusts T1 and T2 scanning parameters to provide pertinent information for interpretation. + Performs Diffusion studies, MR Angiograms, reformats and MIP imaging + Uses magnetic resonance and adjusts parameters to minimize exposure to patient and self + Follows established protocols and uses scanning techniques to include, window and contrast levels, scanning time sequences, scanning delays, scanning thickness, FOV, scout images, reformatting, images reconstruct and 3-D image reconstruct. + Photographs, archives and retrieves images + Performs quality control for procedures and equipment. Documents systems failures and variances in the appropriate logbook and arranges for service when necessary + Certified to start and remove IV lines for contrast studies per established departmental policy and procedure. How you'll contribute An MRI Technician who excels in this role: * Perform magnetic resonance imaging in accordance with applicable scope and standards. * Review patient history and physician's orders. * Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation. * When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within the scope of practice. * Monitor patient condition continually and report/respond to changes in status as appropriate. * Prepare equipment and supplies. * Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. * Position patient and perform imaging procedure(s). * Analyze results and identify issues with the quality of imaging results. * Take appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedures. * Enter, transmit, and report scan results.
