The Radiation Therapist applies ionizing radiation to the patient in accordance with the prescription and instructions of the Radiation Oncologist. The Radiation Therapist is responsible for helping in the efficient operation of the radiation department and ensuring safe patient care.
Minimum Requirements:
Associate's Degree, if required by state regulations/licensing requirements
Current Licensure as a Radiation Therapist, as required by state regulations or contract specification
One (1) year of experience as a Radiation Therapist preferred
Current CPR if applicable
TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age
ARRT (T), will need to apply for WA Rad Tech License upon offer but can start with it pending.

CT Treatment Planning and Immobilization:

Therapeutic Radiation Dose Delivery:
Deliver the prescribed therapeutic radiation dose for cancer treatment.
Verify patient consent prior to initiating CT Simulation.
Documentation and Record Maintenance:
Use Electronic Medical Record Systems (ARIA) to maintain patient records and files.
Utilize electronic radiation treatment charts for set-up instructions and treatment verification.
Patient Assistance and Safety:
Assist patients to and from the treatment room and transfer them to and from the treatment table as necessary, using transfer aids.

**DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION**
Advanced diagnostic imaging, specialized clinical expertise. Radiology Services at Harborview Medical Center offers a full complement of radiology tests and imaging procedures, including nuclear medicine and interventional radiology (angiography).
**PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Prepares patients for examinations, explains the procedure and answers patient's questions. Screens patients for any contraindication to MRI exam.
+ Reviews patient medical history on exam request, consults physician as necessary to ensure proper exam for each patient.
+ Prescribes proper scanning parameters for the most common MRI exams with the assistance of documented or computer prescribed protocols. Determines optimal imaging options for most common MRI exams to minimize artifacts and decrease scan time. Post process if needed. Calculate and administer appropriate contrast for exam.
+ Administers contrast under supervision of Radiologist.
+ Assures that patients are properly scheduled in Radiology Information System (RIS), and exams are completed with proper billing.
+ Assures that exam is filmed, archived and sent to PACS properly.
+ Monitors equipment to ensure a diagnostic exam.
+ Troubleshoots and repairs basic system malfunctions.
+ Practices equipment safety policies and procedures.
+ Restocks rooms of all supplies as needed.
**REQUIREMENTS**
- Certified by the State of Washington as a Radiologic Technologist
- Satisfactory completion of formal technology training in an AMA approved school, AND registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) OR equivalent education/experience.
- Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
