Summary
The NOC Technician Level I primary functions include monitoring Summit Broadband network infrastructure and investigating alarms down to root cause for repair or dispatch. Receiving incoming calls from and providing support to all SLA and Cell site customers. Creating trouble tickets for tracking purposes, handling after-hours callouts and escalations, implementing outage restoration procedures and assist in tracking of scheduled network maintenance.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below.
Maintain surveillance of network at all times Correlates and troubleshoots alarms collected by NOC monitoring tools. Identify root cause of trouble and resolve, dispatch or escalate as required Maintain integrity of Network Monitoring Systems by referring erroneous alarms to responsible parties Troubleshoots issues that are reported by Cell Site Backhaul customers, Carriers and SLA customers. Assists field operations with troubleshooting and resolving customer/network related issues. Provide support for the Care Center escalations Provide additional technical support for other internal organizations Answer phones promptly Create tickets for all network troubles Assists in completion of scheduled network maintenance Track and communicate outages via Incident Management application Case in a timely and effective manner Work non-traditional work schedules covering 7 x 24 x 365 operations Perform after-hours callouts and escalations Ability to work independently and as a team member Performs other duties as assigned to ensure the proper operation of the NOC
Qualifications

RESPONSIBILITIESProvide technical support for a large nationwide network which includes monitoring, analyzing, and troubleshooting network problems within Network Operations Control Center (NOCC) utilizing network management and monitoring tools.
Monitor the alarm conditions on the network to proactively identify and minimize disruption and impact to the FAA network, and perform root cause analysis to determine a plan of action for restoring customer services.
Employ test methods to analyze channelized/unchanneled T1, T3, utilizing DACs equipment, Ethernet, IP, Frame Relay, ATM, WAN, LAN, SONET, and TDM.
Assist Local Exchange Carriers (LEC), ILECs, and IXCs to resolve WAN problems, and assist onsite field technicians remotely to resolve local issues.
This position is part of a 24x7 network control environment. Shift and workday flexibility are required.

REQUIREMENTSBachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Engineering, Networking, Information Technology or related field with 2-4 years of prior related experience OR an Associate's Degree with a minimum of 6 years of prior related experience. Will consider prior work experience in place of degree.
Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with Layer 1 troubleshooting.
Minimum of 2 Years networking experience with layer 1, 2, and 3.
MUST have a minimum of 2 years of experience with networking technologies SONET and/or Time Division Multiplexing (TDM).

Preferred Additional Skills:Familiarity working with networking technologies with RF
Networking technologies experience such as OSPF, BGP, MPLS, HSRP, ATM, and Frame Relay.
Experience with Network Management tools such as Cisco Prime SNMPc, Orion, and Netflow is a plus
Experience in UNIX and Remote Access solutions
Experience with call center phone systems and working in a fast paced environment.

Provide 24/7 Tier 1 enterprise IT help desk technical support to deployed users. Monitor systems/network performance metrics and trends to identify substandard performance and anomalies. Escalate complex systems/network performance, bandwidth and security issues and incidents to senior engineers/SMEs (Tier 2 and 3) for analysis and resolution. Operate network intrusion devices and information assurance tools. Provide oral and written briefs, presentations, and professional reports to Government senior leaders and decision makers. Provide on-call support after hours, on weekends and holidays. Develop and review detailed or complex technical documents.

Ability to obtain an Interim Secret clearance prior to start date. Associates in related field and 3 or more years' experience; OR 5 or more years' of relevant experience. Relevant experience Must possess experience and demonstrate an understanding of Microsoft server installation, roles, active directory, storage, performance management, and maintenance. Firewall experience DoD 8570 IAT II Baseline Certification (Security+ CE, CCNA-Sec or equivalent). Completion of additional Professional Certifications. CCNA ITIL Foundation within 60 days of your start date
