Machine Specialties, Inc. (MSI) is a leading contract machining and metal finishing company that designs and manufactures sophisticated, cost-effective solutions to meet our clients' most demanding challenges. Our company is located in Whitsett, NC, about 8 miles outside of Greensboro, NC.
We are searching for experienced and skilled CNC Machinists to join our team. This is an hourly position whose main responsibilities are to maintain production according to our production schedule. This position will report to the Manager of the appropriate department. Duties could include any of the following; Set-up, Operation, and Maintenance of CNC machines.
Our top candidates will have exceptional critical thinking, time management and communication skills, an ability to handle complex machines and tools, and a willingness to lead by example.
Position Expectations:
G & M code fluency and ability to edit program
High level of blueprint reading required
Proficiency with conversational controls is a plus
Strong verbal communication and problem-solving skills
Attention to detail and ability to deal with complexity
Capable of working in a customer-focused, deadline-driven environment while maintaining a positive attitude
Interested in learning with, and from, engineering, and programming team to improve operations
Working to machine dimensions and maintain close tolerances and correlated dimensions
Setting and loading all tools in conjunction with set-up instructions to complete assigned jobs
Communicate with all levels of company employees / customers while presenting yourself as a positive representative of the company.
Maintain a professional attitude at all times.
Job Skills and Requirements:
1+ Years CNC Machining Experience in a Job Shop, preferred
Detail oriented with proven analytical skills.
Ability to troubleshoot / problem solve.
Meet deadlines while working under minimal supervision.
Experience using 5 axis CNC Machines, preferred.
Able to lift up to 30lbs
Ability to stand for up to 10hrs daily
Knowledge and use of hand tools
Ability to work 45+ hours per week

What You Will Do
• Determine methods and procedures in daily activities and establishes approaches for new assignments or activities
• Set-up and operate a variety of computer and mechanically controlled machine tools to produce and repair metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions.
• Operate and program machines to complete specific production steps or processes.
• Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical processes or other control procedures
• As a lead specialist, contribute to the development of concepts and techniques
• Complete complex tasks in creative and effective ways
• Apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts in a specialized field
• Have general knowledge of all other related disciplines
• Rely on advanced experience and judgement to plan and accomplish assigned tasks and solve problems
• Conduct inspection of work produced and may inspect work of others
• Provide solutions to problems that are complex
• Develop and implement action plans to maximize performance and productivity
Qualifications You Must Have
• Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D in the US) or vocational/ technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 6 years of related experience

Operate and troubleshoot machine cell automation
Performs quality inspections, charts and monitors quality data
Assist production supervisor in scheduling manufacturing cells
Review machine analytics and conduct RCCA to improve machine in-cycle time
Update team metrics and production goals
Determine work cell priorities
Participate in and lead continuous improvement initiatives and provide feedback in areas of quality, safety, velocity, and cost
Maintain and conduct preventive maintenance on machines checking air pressures, oil levels, and perform minimal maintenance to correct issues
Drive 5S adherence and complete 5S audits
Lead and participate in 5packs for safety investigations
Conduct Standard Work audits
Drive adherence to start-of-shift checklists
Cross train and ensure that operator training is conducted in a timely fashion
Qualifications:
Requires HS Diploma or GED
2-5 years of experience and/or Technical Certifications
PC literate, blueprint reading, Geometry and/or trigonometry experience required
Possess high level of machining aptitude
Extensive problem-solving skills required
Must be a self-starter and possess the ability to demonstrate strong initiative. Capable of interpreting technical instructions, dealing with large degrees of variation with part and process consistency while delivering the highest levels of quality components
