Low quantity runs Review setup sheets and specifications to determine setup procedure, machining sequence and dimensions; read and understand blueprints, bill of materials, and other specifications to determine product requirements. Assemble cutting tools in holders, set cutter length, and position in machine spindles; select part holding fixtures and index part as needed to machine as required. Loads control media in machine control console or enter commands to retrieve pre-programmed machine instructions from database; edit machine speed and feed. Performs a variety of inspection and gauging operations to insure maintenance of quality standards and specifications; observes and listens to machine operation to detect malfunctions, such as worn or damaged cutting tools. Measures work-piece for conformance to specifications, utilizes override control to correct conditions that are out of tolerance, and notifies supervisor of discrepancies.
