Provides care under the supervision of a licensed practitioner of medicine or registered nurse to patients receiving renal dialysis treatments at a UVA Medical Center dialysis facility. The Dialysis Technician prepares the equipment used for hemodialysis and provides patient care during treatment.

+ Maintains an infection free environment of care.
+ Maintains supplies and equipment.
+ Prepares dialysis stations.
+ Reinforces patient education.

**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**
Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent.
Experience: Previous health care experience preferred.
Licensure: Certified as a Patient Care Dialysis Technician by a State Agency or Nationally Recognized Certification Program within 18 months of hire date.
American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
Criteria for use of the titles of dialysis patient care technician or dialysis care technician. In order to use the titles of dialysis patient care technician or dialysis care technician or administer medications in a Medicare certified renal dialysis facility, a person shall hold one of the following certifications: 1. Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) by the Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission (NNCC); 2. Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT) by the Board of Nephrology Examiners Nursing and Technology (BONENT); 3. Certified in Clinical Nephrology Technology (CCNT) by the National Nephrology Certification Organization (NNCO); or 4. Certification or licensure as a dialysis technician or similar title by another jurisdiction in the United States provided the standards for certification or licensure or substantially equivalent to those in Virginia.
**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping/traveling; Repetitive motion: Building dialysis machines and wrist rotation. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 - 100lbs. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, noise, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
The starting base rate for this role is $16.37 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.

JOB SUMMARY
The Obstetrical (OB) Surgical Technician is a member of the Obstetrical healthcare team who provides technical support to the obstetrician/surgeon and registered nurse in the operating and delivery room settings. This position assists in the preparation of supplies and equipment for surgical and delivery procedures and provides the appropriate instrumentation necessary for the obstetrician/surgeon to perform these procedures. The OB Surgical Tech is responsible for maintaining current knowledge of trends in the operatingroom, including new products, procedures, and physicians' techniques. Provides assistance in the maintenance of aseptic cleaning of the OperatingRoom pre and post procedure and maintains a par level of supplies within the department. Performs indirect and direct patient care of the neonate, and female patients under the direct supervision of a RN. Provides patient care support, maintenance of nursing unit, housekeeping and dietary tasks, and clerical support for the nursing unit.
Communication: Collaborates with the leadership team to identify and resolve unit issues.
Keeps co-workers and intra-op staff informed of any updates/issues.
Follows written instructions as needed.
Quality: Complies with established departmental and organization policies/guidelines.
Maintains, operates, and monitors all equipment according to manufacturer's recommendations and department standards.
Technical Competency: Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide services appropriate to the age of the patients served.
Collects, organizes, and enters information into the patient scheduling application.
Assists with various types of surgical operations providing technically skilled duties, serving as first assist.
Demonstrates knowledge of instrumentation and sterile/aseptic technique.
The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Diploma or GED. Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology program.
Experience: Previous Surgical Technologist experience preferred.

Licensure:
Must be registered with the Virginia Board of Medicine as a Surgical Technologist in accordance with Virginia Code §54.1-2956.12.
Must hold and maintain a national surgical technologist certification (e.g., NBSTSA CST) or meet another Virginia Board-approved pathway (military training, DOL-registered apprenticeship, or applicable grandfathering criteria).
Must provide proof of compliance prior to hire and maintain active registration throughout employment.
Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Ability to create and maintain a sterile field. Knowledge of specialized instrumentation and equipment for various surgical procedures. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure materials. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in writing, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Basic understanding of medical terminology. Computer skills.
