Insight Global Health is looking for an experienced Surgical Scrub Technician for one of our large Level 1 Trauma Center clients in the Cincinnati, OH area! This Surgical Scrub Technician will be responsible for assisting surgeons during surgical procedures by anticipating surgeon needs to make sure the procedure is executed as smoothly and efficiently as possible. The Surgical Scrub Technician will prepare and organize the operatingroom, clean and sterilize equipment, and maintain a sterile environment.
Shifts:
* 10 hour shifts
* Flex shifts available - can be flexed to an off shift (evening or night) up to 3 weeks out of a 6 week schedule but no more than that AND will not be scheduled various shifts within the same week (If given an off shift, that will be the shift worked that entire week)
* Call Requirements:
8 hours per week, scheduled directly before or after staff shift typically in 4 hour blocks

PAY RATE: Local - $40-$50/hr

POSITION SUMMARY

Ability to anticipate the needs of the surgeon and has equipment, medical gases and supplies readily available for all procedures. Has the ability to adhere to work schedule, be organized, manage time effectively and in a cost effective manner. Participates in continuing education/in-service training as needed, staff meetings, and Q.A.P.I. program. Actively participates in the development of a healthy work environment. Assists in orientation of new staff when needed.
Knowledge of central and sterile supply department. Opens all sterile packs according to sterile technique and prepares instruments as needed. Helps prepare operatingroom by setting up surgical instruments; ensuring equipment works properly, labels sterile solutions. Helps gather supplies and equipment in the room. Maintains record on field of medication used intra-operatively, specimens retrieved, tissue implanted, implants, liquids or chemicals on field. Passes instruments and other sterile supplies to surgical assistants. May hold retractors, cut suture, help count sponges, needles or blades if applicable. Prepares, cares for and dispose specimens taken for laboratory analysis. Ability to operate sterilizer, lights, suction, and other operatingroom equipment/ diagnostic equipment. Assists in patient transfer to PACU, if needed. Helps clean and restock operatingroom. Assists with any technical function under supervision of system to carry out a safe operation. Ability to prep, drape and position the patient for surgery. Prepares for case according to surgeon's preference card. Gathers supplies needed and anticipates needs for case. Needs manual dexterity to handle instruments. Must be emotionally conscientious, orderly, and emotionally stable to handle the OR environment.
Attendance - Arrives to work area on time and has minimal absences.
EDUCATION/ REQUIREMENTS
High School diploma or GED
Two (2) years of hospital main operatingroom experience preferred
Certification as a Surgical Technician preferred
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required
Must be able to provide proof of their identity and their right to work in the United States

Performs fire prevention inspections, conducts public fire and EMS safety education programs, performs preventive maintenance inspections on all equipment, performs the testing of all fire apparatus, hose, hydrants and other equipment within the department needing routine testing. Complete written and/or oral reports for the dissemination of information based on the above activities. Maintain certifications as a Kentucky Certified Career Firefighter and State Certification as an EMT. Participates in drills, demonstrations and courses in firefighting techniques, equipment, and apparatus operation, medical aid, technical rescue, hazardous materials, fire prevention, equipment maintenance and a wide variety of other subjects related to the fire and EMS service; studies city geography, streets and conditions affecting fire operations; studies and learns departmental standard operating procedures; studies and learns inspection regulations and fire prevention laws, codes and departmental policies and procedures; studies and learns procedures and techniques for the mitigation of hazardous materials incidents. Firefighters shall participate in the department's fire education and community outreach programs and activities. Maintain certifications as a Kentucky Certified Career Firefighter and State Certification as a Paramedic. Participates in drills, demonstrations and courses in firefighting techniques, equipment, and apparatus operation, medical aid, technical rescue, hazardous material, fire prevention, equipment maintenance and a wide variety of other subjects related to the fire and EMS service; studies city geographic, streets and conditions affecting fire operations; studies and learns departmental standard operating procedures; studies and learns inspection regulations and fire prevention laws, codes and departmental policies and procedures; studies and learns procedures and techniques for the mitigation of hazardous materials incidents. A Firefighter/EMT-P shall participate in the department's fire education and community outreach programs and activities. NAUTO drive cam A.I. Stair chairs, Reeves stretchers, and manual lift-assists are always on-hand for the more difficult moves and transfers. Antimicrobial dome lighting is available in every patient compartment of our vehicles to continually disinfect surfaces and hard to reach crevices for additional safety and infection control. Medical Direction and Clinical Protocols provided by UH EMS Institute.
On-site Mechanics are available weekly to provide timely repairs, PMs, to company vehicles, and employee vehicles when time permits. Porters are also provided throughout the workweek to take over the Ambulances at the end of shifts to provide deep cleaning and detailing while the hardworking EMTs are free to go about their day or evening.
