You will determine donor eligibility to donate plasma, management of donor adverse events, review of laboratory test results, and donor notification of unsuitable test results. The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) works under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager as applicable) for operational guidance and under the management of the Center Physician for medical issues. The Medical Support Specialist will be familiar with regulations of the plasma collection industry or a manufacturing environment. The Medical Support Specialist follows guidance provided by BioLife Medical Affairs and provides center level support of environmental, health and safety (EHS).
How you will contribute
You will determine donor eligibility; to include, proper management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
You will evaluate donor reaction(s), which occurs at the facility as outlined in the SOPs. Follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies including the development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
You will refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs (as applicable) when in need of providing unacceptable findings to donors, or guidance concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
You will support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
You will manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER. Refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents.
You can be a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.
What you bring to Takeda:
High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-Paramedic
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy
Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
Two years in a clinical or hospital setting

$25.00 - $34.38
The estimated hourly wage range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual hourly wage offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

Assists in the nursing care and preparation of surgical patients of all ages in the OperatingRoom. Functions as the surgical technologist on the surgical team under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Starting Pay: $22.14 to $33.21 DOE (Surg Tech I - non-certified)
$23.27 to $34.91 DOE (Surg Tech II - certified)
Full-time benefited position, working 72-80 hours per schedule. Days of work are Monday - Friday, typically 6:00 am - 2:30 pm. Weekend shifts will be every 4th weekend. Holidays will be as needed.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Adheres to the standards of nursing care and the policies and procedures of the hospital, Nursing Department and the OperatingRoom.
Prepares tables, instruments, supplies, and implants as required for specific operations. Has knowledge of surgeon's preference and step-by-step procedure.
Assists in preparation and draping of the patient and operative area.
Prepares and passes instruments, sutures, sponges and supplies needed in the operative procedure and maintains a correct count.
Prepares and maintains the sterile field for the surgical procedure.
Assists in the delivery, labeling, and preparation of medication on the sterile field under the director of the RN circulator.
Assists in maintenance and care of surgical specimens for laboratory analysis.
Assists with table equipment, positioning patients, application of casts and dressings.
Decontaminates all equipment, instruments, and supplies.
Assists in transferring patients to and from the OR suite.
Assists other members of the team with terminal cleanup of room in readiness for the next patient.
Assists the circulating nurse and nurse anesthetist as assigned or required within the legal limitations.
Cleans and stocks assigned rooms.
Will participate in ordering and restocking medications within OR department and hospital guidelines.
Participates in unit meetings, maintenance of physician preference cards and AM report.
Acts as a liaison clinical site coordinator for colleges/universities. Is responsible for the completion of all required/requested documentation as appropriate. (CST only)
Coordinates educational experience for student surgical technologists. Acts as a mentor and preceptor for students. (CST only)
Pull supplies for scheduled procedures for the next day.
Relieve staff for breaks and lunches when able.
Restock carts and supplies, put away clean instruments/trays, and do PAR level orders.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION: SURGICAL TECHNOLOGIST
PREPARATION AND TRAINING - Graduate from an accredited surgical technologist program and hold a UAP from the ND Board of Nursing. Certification required and maintained. Position requires completion of BLS CPR. Position is required to attend Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training in the appropriate timeframe according to department orientation checklist.
WORK EXPERIENCE - To be a designated clinical site coordinator for colleges/universities 2 years of surgical technologist experience is required. Previous work experience in the OperatingRoom preferred but not required. Time to reach competency on the job here: four weeks to six months (depending on prior experience).
ATTENDANCE - Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility of each employee at JRMC. Employee are expected to report to work as scheduled, on time and prepared to start working. Employees are also expected to remain at work for their entire work schedule.
ANALYTICAL ABILITY - Required to gather and interpret data on physician preference cards, to anticipate surgical needs and display knowledge of the step-by-step procedures. Must be able to determine priorities within area of assignment.
INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT - Makes some independent judgments regarding patient care during set up. Receives supervision and guidance from the registered nurse or physician. Judgments are based on policies and procedures. Substandard performance in nursing skills or judgments may adversely affect patient care or welfare and hospital goodwill.
CONTACT WITH OTHERS - Contacts limited to individuals entering the O.R. Must demonstrate social sensitivity and the ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, patients, physicians and students.
SUPERVISING THE WORK OF OTHERS - Demonstrates leadership and teaching capabilities. Must have organizational skills. Must be able to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks. Supervision is provided to student surgical technologists.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE WELFARE OF OTHERS - High frequency with which work performed may result in pain, minor injuries and/or stress for others. Must be accurate in performance of responsibilities.
MENTAL/VISUAL EFFORT - Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner. Must demonstrate physical and emotional ability to meet agreed upon work schedule and performance standards required by the position. Required duties are such that concentrated attention must be applied on demand consistent with manual skill requirements in situations that may at times be stressful. Visual acuity necessary for reading charts and working with medical devices; color perception necessary to distinguish between different instrument, supplies, and equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS - OSHA job classification: This position is defined as a Category I in which the employee does have exposure to bloodborne pathogens. Position requires exposure to patients with infectious disease and odor. Must practice aseptic techniques and observe Standard Precautions. Participates in and complies with JRMC Safety Management program. Position is subject to frequent interruptions. Work may be beyond normal working hours, on weekends and holidays, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary. Position is subject to on-call for the O.R after normal working hours.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY EFFORT - Frequent standing or walking. Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients and/or equipment. Frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching. Needs finger dexterity when handling medication, specialized equipment/instruments and performing nursing functions. Requires standing for extended periods of time without relief.

* Develop course outlines, descriptions, and lecture or lab needs for the EMT online program.
* Develop laboratory exercises and provide a schedule for laboratory days throughout the semester.
* Collaborate with academic leadership and industry in the EMT program pathway development.
* Maintains good public relations while working with faculty, staff, and students.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Knowledgeable in course content, effective in teaching their assigned subjects, and capable through academic preparation, training, and experience to teach courses or topics to which they are assigned.

* Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple projects.

* You will evaluate donor reaction(s), which occurs at the facility as outlined in the SOPs. Follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies including the development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
* You will refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs (as applicable) when in need of providing unacceptable findings to donors, or guidance concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
* You will support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
* You will manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER. Refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents.
* You can be a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.
What you bring to Takeda:
* High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements

The OR/Surgical Technician is responsible for demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to provide assistance during surgical procedures performed in the department. The Travel OR Tech is experienced in all aspects of aseptic technique: setting up the required equipment and sterile supplies as needed for their assigned cases, pulling cases as needed, and breaking down cases at the end of the procedure. He/she is knowledgeable regarding instrumentation, equipment and supply needs for all types of surgical procedures. The OR Tech performs delegated duties consistent with his/her scope of practice and functions within the philosophy and overall plan of care delivery.
As an OR/Surgical Technician you should be prepared to perform the following tasks:
• Assist with moving and positioning of patient.
• Clean and bandage wounds.
• Confirm procedure with patient.
• Maintain supplies and medical equipment.
• Meets technical skills as outlined in checklist.
All OR/Surgical Technicians are required to hold the NBSTSA Certification or NCCT Certification in order to be eligible for employment with TNAA. OR/Surgical Technicians should be able to stand and walk for long periods of time, as well as bend, lean and stoop without difficulty. OR Techs should be able to easily lift 20 pounds. Moving or lifting of patients may require lifting of up to 50 pounds at times. Because of the fast-paced environment, must possess good skills for coping with stress and be able to relate to people of all ages and backgrounds.
