The Surgical Technician serves as a member of the healthcare team and provides technical support to the surgeon, registered nurse, and anesthesiologist in the operating room. The Surgical Technologist assumes appropriate responsibilities in the perioperative area by scrubbing, assisting the RN circulator, setting up and breaking down surgical procedures, pulling and putting away supplies and equipment, and environmental service duties. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Cleans operating room between cases. Ensures proper supplies, equipment, and instruments are ready for use. Restocks operating rooms as necessary to meet par levels. Assists other operating rooms for coverage. Knowledge of surgeon preferences, procedures, instrumentation, and equipment. Prepares cases for next day. May operate sterilizer, lights, suction machine, and other designated equipment. Ensures patient, procedure, operative site, positioning and equipment correspond. Follows the center exposure control plans/blood borne and airborne pathogens. Reports observed or suspected breaks in sterile technique and acts according to policy Performs hand scrub according to policy and procedure. Arranges instruments and supplies for surgical procedure. Minimum Job Qualifications: 1+ years' experience in a Patient Care Tech role or equivalent preferred Ability to identify equipment problems and correcting or notifying team leader Ability to apply written instructions and standardized work practices Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, patients, and families Able to withstand physical & mental demands: standing, walking, stooping, and bending. Requires ability to move equipment and transfer patients. Builds knowledge of dealer supported product lines, service standards, and procedures and keeps abreast of all changes in various models of equipment sold and serviced by the distributor. Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with Service shop and Factory standards. Vehicle inspection including factory warranty repairs, computer diagnostics and programming. Attend local, regional, and national service schools and training sessions as requested. Desirable Qualifications: Direct industry experience Class B CDL ADA Requirements: Bend, squat, climb, grasp, twist, reach, lift or otherwise move frequently for extended periods. Typically sits, grasp items and performs keyboarding for occasional operation of a computer.
