Job Description Process Operator Job Summary: This position requires accurate and accountable performance of all necessary duties to ensure safe and efficient operations in the fermentation and distillation areas of the facility. This position works under the immediate supervision of the Operations Manager and functionally reports to the Team Leader at the location. Essential Functions include but are not limited to: Learn all facets of the ethanol production process including: grain system, cook, fermentation, distillation, evaporation, centrifuges, boilers and water treatment system. Ability to learn and operate DCS (computer control system) for the plant. Follow Standard Operating Procedures for plant start-up, shut down, and normal operation. Stay within operating parameters set by Plant/Operations Manager and notify management of any production problems. Keep accurate and timely logs. Data entry. Collect samples and do the necessary tests to ensure consistent and quality product and document results. Monitor and make adjustments on the (DCS) computer according to the results of the samples and to keep within parameters and record changes. Keep facility, control room, and break room clean including mopping and hosing down plant floors -tour ready conditions. Keep operators, coming on shift, briefed on what has happened and what is supposed to be done during the next shift. Work closely with maintenance and inform them of any mechanical problems. Communicate with the Laboratory and learn testing procedures including but not limited to yeast counts, Perten, HPLC, and GC operation. Responsible for notifying Management of any production problems. Complete any and all tasks assigned by plant management. Help out in other areas as needed. 12 hour rotating shifts. Available occasionally for call in work and overtime. Participate in safety programs and ongoing training sessions. Required to follow all safety procedures. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required Requires a valid driver's license. Be able to operate utility vehicle. Under indirect supervision on an assigned shift, participates in the operation and quality control of a Wastewater Treatment Plant. Responsible for the quality of effluent as set by Federal, State, and City regulations. This position will be required to work shifts including evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime as needed by the department, and during inclement weather. This position is considered weather essential personnel. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES * Makes periodic rounds of the plant to assure that the plant process is operating properly. * Monitors and records the flow through the plant. * Collects samples for laboratory analysis. * Performs standard tests for operations control. * Maintains records for operations control of the plant (every 2 hours). * Checks all pumps, motors, engines, and blowers and associated equipment. * Fills out maintenance request forms on equipment not operating properly. * Reports the status of the plant to the supervisor. * Maintains flow distribution to; industrial, equalization, digestion, sludge, etc. * Removes debris from clarifier as needed. * Communicates to the oncoming operator the plant status and any hazards. * Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Performs work as part of a team in an industrial laundry facility. Responsible for the safe, expeditious, and accurate handling of merchandise into and/or out of the laundry facility. - Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Removes orders from the trolley or pulls used merchandise for mending, replacement, and exchange; Pulls badges/emblems and attaches to order form, sorts batches by garment families, sews badges/emblems on garments, and hems pants; Identifies and segregates merchandise not meeting specified quality standards and company grading policy for used garments in terms of rips, tears, holes, ink spots, missing buttons, loose hems, and stains; Accurately counts and sorts merchandise, and sew badges/emblems straight and on the proper garments; Replaces garments on trolley and pushes completed trolley to next station; Maintains safe and clean work environment, and observes best practices in all production activities; Other duties as assigned. - Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to understand all required training, written, and verbal instructions; Working knowledge of basic math skills; Good verbal and written communication skills; Ability to work independently and as part of a team; Ability to meet attendance schedule. - Working Environment/Safety Requirements: Work is performed in a warehouse setting and regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, extreme heat and cold conditions as well as dust and noise.
