Job DescriptionSummary/Objective: The Equipment Operator is responsible for ensuring raw materials are properly received, stored and loaded for production. Ensures that the yard area is properly maintained and organized. Essential Functions:
Primary functions include: stocking received materials, loading and unloading deliveries; and loading customer vehicles.
Ensure that equipment is operating properly at all times by completing the greasing, checking oil fluid levels, adding grease and oil as required, and keeping plant and equipment clean and free of excess material.
Keep equipment and plant site clean at all times by washing the outside of the plant and equipment whenever necessary, maintaining plant grounding, picking up trash and other items from grounds, and making sure that all equipment is in its proper place.
Operate vehicles and equipment in a safe manner.
Perform all pre and post-trip inspections and complete daily inspection reports.
Follow all environmental regulations and clean up any excess material that could cause environmental problems.
Assist the Concrete Plant Manager in batching and other duties when necessary.
Assist Dispatch and the Concrete Plant Manager in truck/driver communications.
Perform miscellaneous duties and outside labor as requested, which may include, but not limited to, cleaning up around the plant, sweeping, shoveling, moving wheelbarrows, picking up equipment or supplies.
Other duties as assigned.

Fill in for colleagues (at other locations) as needed.

Production Operators work a 12 hour rotational shift schedule, and will work both days (6am to 6pm) and nights (6pm to 6am), with as little as 48 hours between days and night shift. Production Operators work holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed.

GovFirst is currently seeking a Transportation Load Operator to support our client in Troutville, Virginia. Join our dedicated snow operations team and play an important role in keeping the community safe and accessible during the winter season.
We are looking for reliable Load Operators who are ready to step in when winter weather hits. In this on -call position, you'll operate loaders, skid steers, or similar heavy equipment to assist with snow clearing and storm preparation. If you enjoy hands -on work, take pride in operating equipment safely, and want a flexible role that supports essential winter operations, we'd love to have you on our team.
Key Responsibilities:
• Operate loaders and other assigned equipment to remove snow from roads, parking lots, and sidewalks.
• Load and haul snow as needed.
• Perform basic pre - and post -operation equipment inspections.
• Work on an as -needed, on -call basis during and after snow events (including daytime, nighttime, weekends, and holidays).
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain regular communication with supervisors.
Requirements
Skills Required:
• Experience operating heavy equipment (loader, skid steer, tractor, or equivalent).
• Valid driver's license.
• Availability and flexibility to respond on short notice during winter storms.
• Ability to work in cold and extreme weather conditions.

Required Qualifications
* Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B with air brake endorsement.
* Must be able to communicate effectively, work as an effective team member, and receive and execute instructions from the immediate supervisor and/or lead worker.
* Ability to perform heavy manual labor, including safely moving and handling greater than 50 pounds.
* Work consists of long periods of time sitting, standing, walking, reaching, bending, pushing/pulling; and working in all types of weather conditions, including extreme temperatures.
* Ability to climb in and out of trucks, and load refuse or recyclables into trucks.
* Previous work experience operating trucks and related highway equipment such as snow plow.
* Must be available twenty-four hours per day, seven days a week to provide support during planned events or emergencies (such as inclement weather), to include being physically on site if deemed necessary.
* Ability to safely direct traffic and guide driver operating vehicle for backing safely in and out of dock areas.
* Must have a valid Driver's License and be able to operate a motorized vehicle daily.

Reporting to the Heavy Equipment Supervisor, the Heavy Equipment Operator performs a variety of skilled tasks in the maintenance of roadsides, highways, pathways and landfill operations. Operates various equipment and trucks, and uses hand and power tools. Cuts/Remove brush, cleans ditches, drains, address erosion issues and patches potholes. Performs manual labor and functions as a member of a crew as well as independently. Provides traffic control in support of maintenance and construction operations by removing and installing traffic signs plus other warning devices and flagging traffic. Installs directional, building identification and parking lot signs. Provide support and installation of misc. exterior elements across campus such as bike rack, bike fix it stations, guardrails, fence, tables/benches/chairs, bus shelters, concrete/paver/asphalt pads/paths, etc. Provide support for special/athletic events. Performs preventative maintenance as well as minor mechanical repairs to equipment. Clears snow and ice from roadways and performs other types of emergency/inclement weather operations. Required Qualifications
• Previous work experience operating trucks and related highway & earth moving equipment such as backhoe, skid steer, motor grader, etc.
• Must have valid driver's license with good driving record. Will be required to operate a motor vehicle daily.
• Must have a Commercial Driver's license (CDL) Class A with no restrictions.
• Must possess and maintain a DOT medical certification.
• Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical aspects of equipment such as dump trucks and earth moving equipment sufficient to perform routine maintenance and repair.
• Ability to apply safety standards and procedures in the operation of equipment and performance of work tasks including verification that utility locates have cleared prior to work commencing when required.
• Must be able to work effectively as a part of a team; perform heavy manual labor and operate equipment needed to perform job functions; and to follow instructions and be able to understand, comprehend and follow directions in the workplace; read and interpret basic blueprints; and to complete simple forms.
