ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Ensure daily customer happiness
* Participates in the delivery of patient care
* Assures that the medic unit is completely stocked, clean, and in good running order at the beginning and end of each shift

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

* Exceptional knowledge of common physical illnesses, obvious symptoms, and appropriate medical terminology
* Exceptional knowledge of city streets and traffic regulations
* Demonstrate the ability to think and act quickly in stressful situations
* Considerable skill in the application of emergency care procedures and equipment

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance visions, color visions, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The associates must also do the following:

* Under the delegation of the RN, implements the nursing care plan and engages in patient/family teaching.

Preform C-spine immobilization, Foley catheter initiation, maintenance and removal. Preform BLS airway management including oral and nasal pharyngeal airways and suctioning. Wound and burn skin care using aseptic technique.
* Assist RN/Physician in procedure set up. Specimen collection and transportation for laboratory testing and general care of patients as outlined in Emergency Department established protocols.
* At the delegation of the RN; Performs diagnostic procedures and initiates care in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
* Document all patient care given, and patient responses to care in the medical record appropriately.
* Provides BCLS including; CPR and procedures set forth by Sparrow Health System and the department management team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Ensure daily customer happiness
* Participates in the delivery of patient care
* Assures that the medic unit is completely stocked, clean, and in good running order at the beginning and end of each shift
* Examines patients and reports medical conditions to emergency department personnel
* Prepares medical reports and invoices of runs made by the crew
* Attends training sessions as required to maintain certification
* Cleans vehicles and patient care compartments and maintains stations in a neat, orderly fashion
* Reports vehicle and equipment malfunctions to the Control Center and/or appropriate supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
* Exceptional knowledge of emergency care procedures
* Exceptional knowledge of common physical illnesses, obvious symptoms, and appropriate medical terminology

* Demonstrate the ability to think and act quickly in stressful situations

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the associate is required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance visions, color visions, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The associates must also do the following:
* Sit and drive using frequent wrist motions and forward reaches
* Walk, climb stairs, carry medical equipment up to 70 lbs
* Push and pull wheelchairs while ascending or descending stairs with 130 pound patient
* Lift, push and pull stretcher to load and unload 150 pound patient (with assistance of one other Paramedic)
* Lift and transfer loads up to 150 pound (with assistance of one other Paramedic)
* Climb ladder and crawl
* Lifting one end of stretcher weighing 105 lbs from chest to overhead (48-66)
* Ability to wear particulate respirator. Facial hair, except for a mustache to the corners of the mouth, is prohibited.

Livingston County EMS provides both 9-1-1 Emergency Medical Services and non-emergency transportation services in Livingston County Michigan. Livingston County EMS was established in 1970 by the Livingston County Board of Commissioners. Our team responds to requests for emergency medical services as part of an ambulance crew. Monitors vital signs and stabilizes emergency patients prior to reaching a medical care facility. Pay Rate Information:
This position is a union position, and starting pay is $22.62/hour with credit given for experience. This position is eligible for step pay increases within our EMS Union Wage Scale. Top end of the current wage scale for this position is $35.23/hour with the opportunity to earn more by participating with some of our specialty teams such as FTO or MICU medic.
Essential Functions:
Responds to emergency medical calls to render assistance and transport victims to the appropriate medical care facility Knowledge of current company policies, procedures, and protocols.
Identifies the injury, illness or condition and render appropriate medical care to alleviate symptoms or suffering. Stabilizes emergency patients prior to reaching the appropriate medical facility by way of standing orders, written protocols or direct radio communications with the medical control staff at the participating medical facility.
As an Emergency Medical Technician/Paramedic, performs duties such as:
Administering drugs and IV therapy.
Monitors cardiac rhythms and provides electrical defibrillation, cardio version and cardiac pacing when indicated.
Perform advanced airway management techniques.
Any other advanced procedures as covered under their Paramedic license and/or authorized by the Medical Control Authority and its Director.
Thorough knowledge of organization and system interactions.
Uses sound judgment and provide excellent customer service to the patients we serve.
