Posting Number 20161682STD Department Summary Student Parking Enforcement Officer duties may include the following: Ensure compliance with university parking regulations, guidelines and maintain order in parking areas. Officers patrol assigned areas in parking lots and garages on foot and by vehicle. Identify violations and issue citations with fines or warnings to vehicles as needed. Record details of the violation through an enforcement app on department cell phones. Keep accurate records of citations, warnings, towing and immobilized vehicles. Ensure the proper function of parking meters and other enforcement equipment. Be observant of missing signs and communicate the location of damaged, broken, vandalized devices that will need repair. Boot / immobilize vehicles and coordinate vehicle towing services when necessary. Assist with special event parking, setting up signs, cones and barricades. Be a positive and professional ambassador of the department. Educate the public about university parking rules, methods of payments, building and parking lot locations. Provide instruction regarding different parking options available and permits required for specific lots. * Position will require working outdoors. Inclement weather is possible, extreme hot & cold temperatures, high winds, light rain or snow. * Job Profile Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: Ensures parking rules and regulations are followed on campus by monitoring parking lots, issuing citations, and assisting students and staff with parking-related inquiries or concerns. Minimum Qualifications Enrolled for classes at Ohio University, Hocking College, another post-secondary education institution, or a secondary school during the current semester, immediate previous semester, or immediate upcoming semester. Able to follow instructions and complete tasks within deadlines. Basic knowledge of office software and communication tools. Departments may have specific minimum requirements. Preferred Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: * Must be a current student enrolled at Ohio University or Hocking College (undergrad minimum-6 credit hours, graduate minimum-5 credit hours) or attend a local area high school or secondary school during the normal academic year. * Must be honest and trustworthy. High ethical standards are a must. * Attention to detail, must be able to accurately record information relating to the vehicle, location, violation, photos etc. * Positive & professional attitude with good communication and troubleshooting abilities. * Have a good record of being dependable and punctual at work and school. * Must have a valid drivers license in good standing to operate state vehicle. * Self-motivated, must be able to work independently and stay on task without constant supervision. * Previous experience in the customer service area or office setting and excellent computer skills are a plus. Working Condition/Physical Demands: Long periods of standing, walking to patrol assigned areas. Must be able to operate vehicle to travel campus. * Position will require working outdoors.
