JOB DESCRIPTION
The Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) plays a key role on the crisis stabilization team by providing direct, compassionate care to youth, adults, and families experiencing behavioral health crises. This position supports emotional regulation, symptom stabilization, and recovery in a fast-paced environment. The LPT conducts observations, assists with interventions, supports medication services, and contributes to a safe and therapeutic milieu, with a strong focus on individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use needs.
Key Responsibilities
Client Support & Crisis Stabilization
Provide direct care and continuous support to individuals experiencing acute behavioral health symptoms.
Assist in de-escalation, emotional regulation, and behavior management in collaboration with licensed clinicians.
Monitor client safety and well-being, including vital signs, symptom changes, and comfort needs.
Facilitate group and individual skill-building activities to promote coping and stabilization.
Encourage family involvement when appropriate to support treatment and discharge planning.
Medication & Health Support
Administer prescribed medications and document responses, collaborating with RNs and prescribers.
Observe and report side effects, physical health concerns, and changes in mental status.
Support clients experiencing substance use challenges, including early withdrawal symptoms and harm-reduction strategies.
Collaboration & Teamwork
Work closely with clinicians, nursing staff, peers, and case managers to support coordinated care.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to crisis and safety plans.
Assist with transition planning and warm handoffs to community providers.
Documentation & Communication
Maintain accurate records of client behavior, interventions, medications, and safety checks.
Communicate clearly and respectfully with clients, families, and partners to support care continuity.

The 988 hotline will provide initial phone support to all callers and triage calls to the Sycamores Mobile Crisis Outreach Program for in-person support. The Mobile Crisis Outreach Team responds 7 days a week from 7:30pm to 8:30am, broken down by flexible shifts. The Mobile Crisis Outreach Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT)will respond, in person, to provide timely support including crisis stabilization, safety planning, assessment for danger to self/ others, and gravely disabled write 51/50 holds as needed and provide follow up support. Utilizing the Mobile Crisis Outreach Program vehicle to respond to calls, this role co-responds with a Mobile Crisis Outreach Program Peer Support Specialist and is an integral part of the Sycamores larger Mobile Crisis Outreach Program including close partnership with the 988 call center, Riverside County Dispatch Center, police, sheriff, psychiatric hospitals and ambulance transport companies.
The Mobile Crisis Outreach Department evaluates the individual experiencing a “mental health crisis” out in the field and takes measures to ensure the individuals safety (i.e., Evaluates if the individual requires involuntary hospitalization to ensure their safety). The Mobile Crisis Outreach Program LPT takes the lead on care coordination and works collaboratively with the Mobile Crisis Outreach Program Peer Support Specialist to coordinate care i.e., locate hospitals, ambulances, housing, etc.). The Mobile Crisis Outreach Program responds to an individual's need for in-person evaluation for safety within specified geographical area (i.e., Desert, Mid-County and Western Regions.)
Starting Pay Range:
$70,304 - $76,080 per year for Full-Time employment (starting pay will be based on previous work experience and educational background.) There will be an additional $4,160 per year overnight differential.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Licensed in the State of California as Licensed Psychiatric Technician required.
Must maintain relevant licensure as a condition of employment.
2 + years of successful licensure and experience preferred.

RUBHS experience preferred.
