JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a Clinical Nurse II to independently plan and provide professional nursing care for patients in ambulatory clinic settings in accordance with the medical and nursing plans of care and established policies and procedures. Provide nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. The primary responsibility of this role will be administering allergy immunotherapy (allergy shots), monitoring for adverse reactions, and providing patient education while ensuring patient safety and adhering to clinic protocols.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Administer allergy immunotherapy (allergy shots) as prescribed by the physician.
Perform patient intake including: obtaining vital signs (including manual blood pressures), administering survey tools, conducting educational assessments (patients/guardians), medication review, assisting patients with preparing questions for provider visit, assisting patients with ambulation/toileting.
Completing procedural tasks including administering allergy skin tests, measuring and interpreting allergy skin test results, oral immunotherapy, oral medications, oral food challenges according to protocols and provider orders. Monitor patients for potential reactions to therapy administered.
Provide patient/family education, bill for nursing procedures. Administering specialty medication injections. Full assessments as needed. Monitor patients for potential reactions to therapy administered.
Provide patient/family education for specialty injections and assess for understanding.
Bill for nursing procedures.
Assist with prior authorizations and triage as available.
Documentation in electronic health record.
Participate in own professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate assistance or educational offerings.
Support the development of other staff and formal learners. Participate in the identification of clinical, operational and safety related performance improvement opportunities.
Participate in clinic or entity level performance improvement activities.
Actively participate in unit staff meetings and committee meetings with minimum 80% attendance.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN or Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program. Exception: Registered nurses hired between July 1, 2014 and April 11, 2021 without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) are expected to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date but must complete the program within seven years of their start date. Registered nurses hired before July 1, 2014 are not required to enroll in a BSN program to remain in this job classification.
Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. If candidate has another compact state RN license, NC state licensure must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
BLS required.
Some related pediatric experience is preferred.

The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with an occasional Saturday morning. *Creekstone is open one Saturday morning per month. Staff and specialties rotate.

As a Clinical Nurse II in the Pediatric ED Extension Area, you will:

Performs fetal heart monitoring.
Makes assessment of labor progress using Friedman labor curve.
Manages pregnancy-caused hypertension.
Initiates intravenous therapy and use of infusion pumps.
Participates in emergency drug administration.
Assists with vacuum extractor.
Assesses condition of the newborn, including gestational exam.
Performs neonatal resuscitation and assists with intubation if required.
Recognizes and manages neonatal sepsis.
Works with neonatal unit to care for preterm infants and others with special problems.
Performs gavage feeding if required.
Monitors for neonatal hypoglycemia.
Monitors thermal regulation of the newborn.
Recognizes neonatal jaundice.
Teaches and supervises the proper performance of nursing acts that have been delegated to others and monitors nursing care of other health care team members.
Promotes patient/client education and involves the patient and significant others in implementation of health goals.
Understands and adheres to JCAHO standards as they apply to the nursing profession.
Participates in fire, safety, disaster, and infection control educational programs and exercises.
Participates in specific patient quality assessment activities, including chart review.
Complies with certification/recertification requirements of the position and attends continuing education courses to remain current in the field.
Minimum Education
Nursing Associate Degree or Completion of an Accredited Nursing Diploma Program.
Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) is preferred.
Certifications/Licenses
A current North Carolina or compact stated Registered Nurse (RN) license is required upon hire.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required within 30 days of hire.
Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) is required within 90 days from hire date.

Minimum Work Experience
Minimum of six months to one year of experience as a Registered Nurse in a hospital Medical/Surgical or L&D setting is required.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide nursing triage, assessment and education to patients via telephone interactions and secure messaging.

Job Eligibility Requirements:

All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within seven years of their start date.
You have a minimum of 2 years nursing experience and 1 year of med-surg experience.
You have a minimum of 1 year of pediatrics experience.
Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
