Education:
High School diploma/GED or current enrollment in High School/GED program required.
Licensure/Certification/Registry:
Possesses a current State of Illinois Technician license or is able to obtain such license within 60 days of application. Applicants may not begin work without proof of licensure application, either electronic (Web) verification or hard copy of application.
Pharmacy Technician Certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board-(PTCB) or the Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT) is required by the second pharmacy technician license renewal except for:

Responsibilities
Assists the pharmacist in filling medication orders including orders for IV admixtures, surgical kits, compounded orders, or floor stock.
Complies with all Federal, State, or other regulatory requirements as they relate to drug control, drug storage, drug dispensing or drug returns.
Monitors medication stock levels and advises appropriate pharmacy staff of depletion or low levels of critical medications and supplies.
Adheres to all necessary State, Federal (USP) sterility requirements in preparation of sterile products.
Delivers medications in a timely manner, placing patient needs first.
Utilizes pharmacy computer program / software to generate labels, post charges and issue credits, run reports, and enter patient specific information.
Complies with all department, State and Federal requirements for completing appropriate online and paper records and reports for historical and auditing purposes.
Serves as a back-up for other areas within the unit or department, especially during times of special needs or staff absences.
Performs other related work as required or requested.
Occupational Hazards: Potential for exposure to infectious patients and materials, though rare. Potential for exposure to hazardous and toxic substances including chemotherapy, cytotoxic drugs, and cleaning solutions. Potential for sticks or cuts by needles and other sharp, potentially contaminated items. Potential for musculoskeletal injuries if proper lifting and carrying techniques are not used.

Basic Qualifications

What does Nuclear Pharmacy contribute to Cardinal Health?
Pharmacy Operations is responsible for the safe, efficient and effective coordination of Cardinal Health's pharmacy operations that service acute care hospitals, hospital retail customers, ambulatory care and alternate site facilities, oncology and cardiology practices as well as retail customers.
Nuclear Pharmacy is responsible for providing radiopharmaceuticals and other drugs to medical care providers under highly regulated State and Federal guidelines; may also consult with or advise physicians and nuclear medicine technologists on the safe and efficacious use of radioactive drugs for diagnosis and therapy.
Job Summary
Through effective leadership and coordination with a team of direct reports, the primary purpose of the Pharmacist II, Nuclear is to manage, facilitate, and oversee execution of day-to-day operations of the nuclear pharmacy. The Pharmacist II, Nuclear has completed all necessary training and is licensed to be a practicing nuclear pharmacist in their state of occupation. As such, this job has responsibility for optimizing pharmacy operations and procedures to ensure consistent and efficient delivery to control costs, minimize waste, maximize customer satisfaction and deliver positive patient outcomes while maintaining compliance with Federal and state regulatory agencies. In addition, this job has responsibility for managing inventory, processing orders, compounding patient-specific doses of drugs and directing a team of drivers to deliver medications after they have been tested for quality.
Shift/Schedule
* 40 hours weekly
* Day shift hours with occasional night shift coverage
* Rotating weekends every 4th week
* Monday - Friday 1:00am-9:00am,
Monday - Friday 8:30am-4:30pm,
Saturdays/Sunday/holidays 3:00am-11:00am
* On-call roughly one night per week
* Must be flexible to work other hours and days as needed
Responsibilities
* Provides pharmaceutical care to patients as a staff pharmacist, including compounding of nuclear medications, testing for quality through chromatography, and directing distribution of medication using a team of drivers.
* Assesses and maintains pharmacy inventory and executes necessary orders, including reviews, to maintain optimal supply and ongoing availability of drugs, identifying and procuring alternative drugs to mitigate risks, when necessary.
* Leads processes for hiring of pharmacy staff, onboarding, and performance management, including leadership of competency evaluations process and documentation.
* Manages and directs internal workflows of nuclear pharmacy, including optimization of staffing and scheduling to maintain best-in-class and streamlined pharmacy operations.
* Assists in execution of plans for lowering costs, increasing efficiency and driving profitable growth to support strategic business objectives in the nuclear pharmacy business.
* Maintains relationships with outside suppliers and vendors to understand availability of drug components and assist in demand planning.
* Participates in administrative tasks to facilitate nuclear pharmacy operations, including interactions with customers.
Qualifications
* 2-4 years of experience, preferred
* Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred
* Valid Pharmacist's license in the state in which the pharmacy operates or is in the process of obtaining a valid license.
* Prior Authorized User certification is preferred. Nuclear Pharmacy Training can be provided.

Position Overview

Qualifications
Bachelor's or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) degree from an accredited pharmacy program
Active and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in the State of Wisconsin
Federal DEA registration and certification for vaccine administration
Five or more years of pharmacy experience, including supervisory or leadership responsibilities
Comprehensive knowledge of pharmacology, formulary management, and dispensing procedures
Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills
Proven ability to manage staff and delegate responsibilities effectively
Commitment to patient safety, accuracy, and ethical practice
Proficiency in pharmacy information systems and Microsoft Office applications
