The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) supports the Occupational Therapists by providing treatments and procedures to students who have been determined to require occupational therapy as a related service in the school environment. The OT Assistant may also do routine tasks, such as preparing treatment rooms, under the direction of Occupational Therapists. Duties and Responsibilities: Guide students in therapeutic activities, such as exercises to improve motor skills and functional abilities. Lead children who have disabilities in play activities that promote coordination, socialization, and meeting developmental milestones. Teach students new ways of accomplishing everyday tasks. Instruct students in the use of special equipment-for example, showing a student how to use adaptive devices to simplify meal preparation.
