PTA is responsible for documenting services according to the departmental and facility standards. Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Provides therapeutic treatment in accordance with the established plan of care
Documents treatment provided including reasons for skilled intervention, observation, recording and reporting patient status and response to treatment
Participates in the maintenance of therapy records
Ensures availability of supplies and equipment
Maintains appropriate patient schedules, as per established guidelines
Provides documentation to maintain quality of the medical records, as it relates to reimbursement guidelines, accuracy of billing information, and facility requirements

Follows administrative policies and procedures including those related to emergency procedures, infectious disease control, and safety
Coordinates and/or participates in training programs for facility staff, residents, families, and rehabilitation staff

Patient lifting using appropriate biomechanical techniques frequently throughout the course of a work day/shift; must be capable of easily lifting 50 pounds of dead weight alone
Able to walk, bend, stand, and reach consistently during a work day/shift

Under circumstances in which differentiation between body fluid types is difficult or impossible, all body fluids shall be considered potentially infectious materials. Day in the Life of a Home Health PhysicalTherapistAssistant (PTA):
Assist in conducting patient assessments and developing treatment plans under the supervision of a physicaltherapist, focusing on improving mobility, strength, and function.
Implement prescribed physical therapy interventions, including therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, and modalities, to help patients achieve their treatment goals.
Educate patients and their families on home exercise programs, proper body mechanics, and adaptive equipment use to support ongoing recovery and independence.
Collaborate closely with the physicaltherapist and interdisciplinary healthcare team to monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans as necessary, and ensure comprehensive care delivery in the home setting.
Current Openings: Full-Time, Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, on-call rotation

Purpose: Carries out effective patient treatment plans to restore, compensate, or adapt for loss of patient function, which are established by the licensed occupational therapist. Responsibilities: * Implements treatment plans established by the supervising occupational therapist.
* Informs the supervising occupational therapist of any significant change in patients'/clients' medical status, condition, complexity and/or acuity, which may necessitate changes to established treatment plans.
* Provides recommendations to the supervising occupational therapist on treatment plan adjustments when necessary to progress patients/clients or discontinue services.
* Prepares necessary documentation including daily notes and logs in a timely manner according to federal, state and facility-specific rules and regulations.
* Consults with other members of the rehabilitation team to help develop treatment programs consistent with the needs and capabilities of the patient/client and to coordinate comprehensive services delivery.
* Develops effective home programs to maintain and enhance patient/client performance in his/her environment.
* Complies with supervisory rules and regulations required by the state of employment.
* Performs clerical duties such as answering the phone, taking messages, inventory checks, form completion, and insurance authorization tracking.
* Presents a positive service-oriented approach with patients/clients, family, caregivers, facility staff, and co-workers at all times.
* Assists with orientation of new staff, volunteers, and students.
* Assists with equipment maintenance and monitor supply inventory.
* Demonstrates ongoing commitment to reducing costs and improving productivity in the rehabilitation department.
* Demonstrates the ability to handle changing schedule of patients/clients.

Qualifications:
* Current and valid Iowa OTA license
* Ability to comply with accepted professional standards and ethical guidelines
* Current Healthcare Provider CPR certification required
* Mandatory Reporter of Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training certification (within 30 days of hire)
* Must have a valid driver's license, auto liability insurance, and reliable transportation
* Successful completion of pre-employment physical, drug screen, 2-step TB test, and background check
Working Conditions:
* Physical requirements: Medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
