Day to day you'll: Operate and monitor treatment equipment including pumps, motors, valves, meters, boilers, and sludge processing units. Use SCADA systems and manual logging to track plant performance and adjust processes as needed. Collect samples, conduct field testing, and interpret results to maintain compliance with environmental regulations. Document and report any equipment malfunctions and assist with troubleshooting and routine maintenance. Perform operator-level maintenance such as lubricating equipment, regenerating softeners, and filling chemical tanks. Train and provide guidance to lower-grade operators as assigned. Rotate between water filtration and wastewater treatment plants on scheduled or temporary assignments. Contribute to a safe, efficient, and collaborative workplace. What You Need to Thrive in This Role To be successful in this position, you should bring a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving ability, and a strong sense of responsibility. Schedule: 12 hour night shifts on a 36/44 rotation, which includes some weekends and holidays Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, with specialized training in water or wastewater treatment. At least two years of experience as a treatment plant operator or equivalent. Licensing & Certifications: Valid Pennsylvania Class A Water or Class A Wastewater Operator's license (no subclasses required). Must obtain appropriate subclasses within three years of appointment. Valid PA Driver's License required. Skills & Abilities: Strong understanding of treatment plant operations, laboratory testing, and safety protocols. Ability to read gauges, meters, and SCADA system outputs accurately. Capability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb stairs/ladders, and perform plant rounds every four hours. Effective communication and teamwork skills to work collaboratively across shifts.
