    Under supervision the environmental technician performs tasks focused on the operation of the two pH control buildings including wastewater process equipment maintenance and calibration. In addition, this position is responsible for daily wastewater sample collection and analyses. Manages, tracks and packages hazardous waste, universal waste and recyclables generated at the plant. Retrieves split samples and daily data from the Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTP), collects samples from permitted discharge points and assists with collection of storm water samples for regulatory compliance, and organizes and packages environmental samples to be sent to outside laboratories for testing. Manages day to day operation of the pH control buildings including troubleshooting associated pH system issues. Enters analytical and operational data into spreadsheets and regulatory forms and communicates with production supervisors and managers regarding compliance issues. Performs operational duties such as (but not limited to) cleaning and calibration of environmental sampling and control equipment and cleaning and organizing of associated work areas. Performs routine and special project analytical testing on samples from the WWTP and other locations throughout the entire group of WDI facilities using EPA approved analytical methods. Bachelor's Degree preferred in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Dairy Science, Biology, or other related fields of study Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to work with hand tools and perform minor plumbing repairs. Ability to evaluate situations for proper response related to wastewater process equipment operations. Ability to manage work time for optimal efficiency. Able to climb ladders to access elevated work areas. Able to safely lift or move approximately 70 pounds.
