Role Purpose:
Provides support to assure the accurate, timely and quality delivery of components to customers. Assembles production components using various manual and automated tools. Works with quality, materials, and other support departments to meet all production goals.
Responsibilities:
* Understand all requirements for Personal Protective Equipment, machine guarding, and other safety requirements; and comply with each applicable to position assigned.
* Review all customer guidelines for quality and special conditions for supply of production components. Maintain ongoing understanding of all changes to and/or updates to production processes and customer specifications.
* Complete manufacturing assembly utilizing standardized work, torque tools, drills, taps, and other automated tools. Mechanical aptitude required in discerning customer specs and applying operating instructions.
* Understand and work with Pokayoke devices, follow all specified checks for quality and quantity of units and document in the SFCS accordingly.
* Assist other manufacturing colleagues as needed to complete customer orders.
* Maintain work area to 5S standards for organization, housekeeping and inspection. Assist colleagues as needed to support 5S.
* Be actively involved with Continuous Improvement Program and participate in Kaizen events as scheduled.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
* If desired, achieve fork truck certification.
* Will be required to perform other duties as assigned.
* Must be able to work overtime as needed.
* Attendance is essential in this position.

* Must be 18 years of age or older.

Additional Information:

We are currently searching for 2nd shift Machine Operators for our Caledonia, MI location. 1st shift runs 6am to 2pm Monday through Friday and 2nd shift runs 2pm to 12am Monday through Thursday. Salary is based on specific industry and machine knowledge and experience.
As a Machine Operator for Opus Packaging you can expect to produce corrugated or chip packaging products for our customers in coherence with promoting the corporate vision, mission statement, and core values.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for all activities associated with running the machines.
Monitor box quality to the documented ISO standards.
Maximize the utilization of equipment by running the machinery at available speed.
Train and assist Feeder and Stacker with their job duties.
Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety and housekeeping.
Perform general preventive maintenance duties per machine schedule.
Set up machines (calibration, cleaning etc.) to start a production cycle.
Control and adjust machine settings (e.g. speed.)
Feed raw material or parts to semi-automated machines.
Inspect parts with precision and measuring tools.
Test operation of machines periodically.
Fix issues that might occur during the shift.
Check output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flaws.
Keep records of approved and defective units or final products.
Maintain activity logs.
What you need to be successful at Opus Packaging:
Must be 18 years or older.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions and procedural documents.
Pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
Work safely.
It'd be great if you also have:
Previous experience in warehouse or packaging environment.
Basic math skills.
Ability to properly use and understand the required measurement equipment including tape measures, micrometers, and other tools as required by specific jobs.
During a normal workday you can expect to:
Bend, reach, stoop, squat and stand for 8 hours.
Have good hand - eye coordination.
Occasional lifting of 50 pounds and frequent lifting of 10-20 pounds.
Understand machine set-up, machine runs, plant data entry, handwork, or assembly assignments.

Performs various mixtures of resins, roving splices, cloth splices and set-ups using measuring and dispensing tools.
Maintains tooling records.
Locates and pulls tooling and materials for processing.
Move materials to designated staging and storage areas to support production.
Maintains all necessary tests that are done a specified times and responsible to check all physical and visual tolerances set for the product.
Responsible for all necessary processing information to be passed on to the next operator before leaving shift.
Performs random cycle counts to assure inventory accuracy.
Conducts equipment inspections and cleaning.
Maintains clean and safe work environment in assigned areas.
Takes direction from supervisor; when necessary, direction is communicated through shift lead.
Continuous learning and demonstration of knowledge in order to achieve increasing operator levels (from trainee up to Level 4).
Complies with and adheres to applicable ISO standards, safety, and work rules and requirements

Work Environment
