Job Description 5 Axis Manufacturing Engineer At least 5 years of experience specifically working with milled parts, and taking on more responsibility over time. At least 5 years of hands-on experience operating machining equipment. Experience using CAD/CAM software to program CNC machines (Siemens NX is a plus). Comfortable writing G&M Code. Strong knowledge of cutting tools and how to hold parts in place during machining. Experience with quick-change tools and automation is a bonus. Good understanding of how to design efficient processes for CNC machining of complex parts. Experience developing automated and advanced manufacturing processes. Able to read blueprints and understand technical drawings, including GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing). Must have experience programming 5-axis machining centers. Job Description GTI Fabrication is seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead the design, control, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes in a modular fabrication environment. This individual contributor role focuses on developing scalable, efficient production methods for custom enclosures, containerized systems, and structural steel weldments. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Lean Manufacturing, and quality systems such as ISO9001. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will work cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and regulatory compliance across the product lifecycle. Key Responsibilities: Design, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes for modular fabricated systems, containerized enclosures, and steel structures. Develop formal manufacturing documentation including process flow diagrams, work instructions, BOMs, routings, CNC programming, and assembly/inspection plans. Use CAD tools (SolidWorks and AutoCAD) to design fixtures, tooling, and work-holding solutions to support scalable production. Translate engineering design requirements into robust and efficient production processes. Lead new product introduction (NPI) efforts from prototype through full-rate production. Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to reduce waste, improve flow, and optimize floor layouts. Integrate automated and digital manufacturing technologies where applicable. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate manufacturability and ensure alignment between engineering intent and production capability. Utilize ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) to manage process documentation and support real-time operations visibility. Maintain compliance with ISO 9001 standards; support internal and external audits. Drive root cause analysis and corrective action using tools like FMEA, SPC, and 8D. Mentor technicians and junior engineers in best practices for manufacturing engineering. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field. 8-15 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in modular fabrication, defense, energy, or industrial equipment sectors. Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD for 3D modeling, 2D drafting, and tolerance analysis. Strong working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies. Experience with ERP/MRP systems (NetSuite a plus). Demonstrated success in process development, design for manufacturability, and production scaling.
