DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Stays informed and knowledgeable of all credit union rates, fees, products, and promotions to assist the members with financial needs. Actively cross-sells products and services.
Provides information to members concerning different types of consumer loans, credit cards, terms, interest rates, and documentation needed for the loan.
Completes teller transactions and works teller line as needed daily.
Conduct financial planning discussions to uncover needs and make adequate recommendations by offering appropriate products, services, and guidance to achieve their personal financial goals.
Educates members on technology and digital solutions offered by Cornerstone FCU.
Actively refer members to Mortgages, Investments, and other solutions offered by Cornerstone FCU.
Processes loan applications in person, by phone, by mail, and through online channels. Evaluates applications for all required information, informing the applicant of any additional documentation needed. Audits and scans loan documents.
Cross-sells and promotes CFCU financial services including payment protection, gap, and warranty options.
Completes all required Department of Motor Vehicle and Secretary of State documents, including securing/filing liens and titles.
Monitors loan queue and stays in communication with Centralized Lending for loans in progress.
Processes member transactions, including, but not limited to, deposits, loan payments, cashier's checks, transfers, check cashing, withdrawals, and bank-to-bank wires each day during assigned time slot or as needed.
Proofs, examines and verifies documents for endorsements and negotiability to ensure safe practices are followed. Detects and resolves discrepancies.
Is alert and aware to help prevent fraudulent activity or errors that would result in a loss to the credit union.
Opens and closes accounts, creates debit cards, and orders checks. Completes various forms associated with account ownership and member authorizations.
Stays informed and knowledgeable about IRA and Business Accounts and assists members with opening these types of accounts.
Balances daily transactions and verifies cash and check totals. Investigates and resolve out-of-balance conditions. Purchases and sells funds to the vault as needed to keep cash drawer at required levels.
Understands and adheres to all applicable banking regulations and CFCU policies and procedures.
Responds to member questions and direct them to other staff as needed.
Attends required training and department meetings as directed by the Branch Manager and Training Manager.
Keeps work area clean, secure, and well-maintained.
Ensures all required documents are imaged.
Ensures confidentially of all sensitive information including members' data.
Abides by all security and robbery procedures.
Assists with training other staff members as assigned.
Performs other duties as requested.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Some college or specialized financial services training is preferred.
Experience
One year in the financial service industry and/or lending experience. A minimum of one year of customer service and/or sales experience with cash handling is required. Lending experience is desired.
Physical, mental and visual requirements
The duties of this job are varied and are primarily designed to accommodate members. To efficiently meet the service needs of members, the job often requires the ability to alternate between standing, sitting and walking. Many of the duties are performed with a personal computer and require manual dexterity and accurate visual observation. Manual dexterity is also needed to quickly and accurately handle cash and essential documents. Excellent verbal and audio communication skills are needed to serve the members. The volume and nature of the duties of this job require the physical and mental stamina to withstand occasional periods of high stress.

What does a day as a Lead Loan Processor look like?

Determine information needed from customers to successfully process the loan, obtain credit reports, order appraisals, title binders, surveys and tax transcripts; mail verification of deposit, verification of employment, and verification of mortgage forms, and update loan files and tracking systems when forms are returned.
Review and analyze credit documents for accuracy and compliance with investor/ agency guides. Identify potential problems and discusses them with loan officer and/or supervisor.
Serve as the contact for borrowers, sellers, and agents involved in loan file, notifying and working with them to resolve any problems that may arise.
Submit the loan file directly to the underwriting department without prior review from supervisor. If necessary prepare cover letter highlighting compensating factors. Follow up on all outstanding underwriting conditions and resubmit as needed.
Provide calculation of borrower's income according to investor/agency guides, including but not limited to borrowers with multiple sources of income.
Follow and monitor the schedule of closing with title companies.
Prepare loan file for closing, hazard insurance binder, H06 for condominiums and PUDs, complete TRID checklist.
Final HUD review.
Update loan officers with current file status weekly.
Assist post-closing with any investor pend issues.
Remain informed of all aspects of investor/agency/compliance policies that affect the processing of mortgage loans.
Remain knowledgeable of all loan programs offered.
Respond in a timely manner to quality control inquiries/exceptions on all audit reviews.
