The Raytheon Mechanical Engineering (ME) Organization leads the mechanical hardware design, development and production of radar, sonar, torpedo, and combat system equipment. The Air Defense Ground Equipment (ADGE) Department leads mechanical design, development, and integration of platform systems. What You Will Do
Key Responsibilities:
Lead execution of major programs within the department, including shelter mechanical design, electronic equipment integration, end-item development, vendor coordination, and the integration of power and cooling systems. Support ongoing sustainment of existing product lines.
Support and lead cross-functional engineering teams, delivering solutions and services across all phases of the program lifecycle. This may include development of next-generation sensing technologies, enhancements to current products, transition to production, in-field upgrades, and vendor oversight.
Lead and contribute to proposal efforts and Estimate at Completion (EAC) activities, providing strategic and technical input.
Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) across multiple programs, providing critical and timely support to ensure successful execution and delivery.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Serve as a technical liaison to programs and Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), ensuring alignment across stakeholders.
Oversee the technical performance of the design team, providing engineering guidance and project support throughout the entire product lifecycle.
Support and lead Technical Data Package (TDP) development and conduct/oversee thorough peer reviews.
Lead mid- to large-sized cross-functional engineering teams as the technical execution lead across all development phases-from proposal generation and program start-up through requirements allocation, preliminary and detailed design, and into first article production.
Perform complex mechanical design, development, and documentation of components, subassemblies, and major end items for defense system applications, ensuring compliance with system requirements.
Provide product integration support for both domestic and international factories and suppliers.
Manage and meet schedule, cost, and technical performance commitments for assigned tasks and projects.
Apply deep knowledge of hardware engineering best practices to ensure technical excellence. The ability to partner effectively with Chief Engineers and technical leads is essential.
Required Qualifications:
Experience in a Mechanical Engineering role, including a minimum of 10 years focused on the design and development of mechanical equipment-preferably in military or defense environments.
Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams, with accountability for cost, schedule, and technical performance, along with project management experience in both budgeting and scheduling.
Proven ability to work in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment, working across multiple engineering disciplines as well as with Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, IPT leadership, Program Management, and customers.
Hands-on mechanical design experience, including:
Performing trade studies
Developing concepts through detailed design
Supporting transition to production
Providing ongoing production and supplier support
Experience in executing Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) analyses, driving cost reduction initiatives, and producing engineering white papers or technical documentation.
Broad expertise in mechanical design, development, material selection, and manufacturing processes, with proficiency in CAD tools and associated Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance and US passport is required.
