About the Role The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the full lifecycle of mechanical design, from conceptualization and detailed design to prototyping, testing, and production support. Nature and Scope: Sun Hydraulics, LLC in Sarasota, FL has a paid Product Engineering internship opportunity available for Summer. Students are offered an introductory hydraulics class as well as the opportunity to see how the different engineering classes are applied in a manufacturing and engineering business. Toward the end of the internship, we ask interns to give presentations suggesting improvements that they may have identified during the defined project. Qualifications: Hands on, self-motivated students from mechanical, mechatronic, mechanical engineering technology, agriculture, and industrial engineering related programs are encouraged to apply. Undergraduate and graduate students that have had fluid power or hydraulics course work are especially encouraged to apply. Summary The Project Engineer supports field activities and spends a majority of time working with the Project Manager supporting project administration on multiple small projects, or one medium to large-size projects. Activities include managing the job transition process; and supporting the management of cost and schedule, constructability, technical evaluations, quality, safety, work planning, procurement, contract management, regulatory compliance, etc. Roles and Responsibilities The Project Engineer will possess competency in the following areas in order to perform his/her role in a safe, productive, and effective manner.
