All Cell Specialists are also responsible to ensure the continuous flow of materials and parts through the assigned cell. Additionally, the Special Process Technician will: Operation and inspection of all types of processes and activities including deburr, laser ID, wash and identification, etc. Manufacture and/or tests parts according to engineering and customer standards and specifications. Maintain accurate and reliable documentation. Remove burrs, sharp edges, tool marks and other irregularities from machined parts to ensure they are in accordance with engineering blueprints, and tolerance requirements. Maintain proper identification of parts per planning specifications and ensure that accurate and reliable records and documentation are maintained. Communicate change of shift requirements to ensure team members receive accurate and reliable information and documentation. Perform routine maintenance of machines and equipment operated. Clean, organize and maintain cellular manufacturing work area in accordance with established standards. Qualifications High School or GED and a minimum of six months experience in production. Effective interaction with team members, customers and all levels of management. Reads, understands and correctly interprets basic blueprint drawings. Must be capable of lifting 50 lbs. from floor to waist. (Note - must use a lift assist or assistance from other individual(s) when lifting in excess of 50 lbs.) Title: Extrusion Operator Department: Extrusion Night Shift 6p-6a rotating Immediate Supervisor: Manufacturing Supervisor Status: Hourly Non-Exempt The Extrusion Operator operates, maintains, and controls the production equipment and process on the production floor to produce a high quality finished hand wrap or machine wrap roll in a safe and productive manner to efficiently service customer orders by performing the following duties. Principle Accountabilities Prepares line for shift by ensuring an ample supply of materials is on hand or is readily accessible for the efficient operation of the line Sets up the line by operating the equipment to form the web, threading the line, and pulling the plastic film through the winders. Adjusts the line to correct specifications by setting necessary controls and process conditions. Monitors the line to maintain quality under continuously changing conditions by adjusting die bolts, Extrol controls, edge pinning, winder settings, and other process settings to ensure quality of film produced. Conducts quality tests by checking film samples for proper prestretch, stretch force, cling, puncture and gauge as compared to quality specifications. Ensures that film doesn't have any other quality deficiencies. Records results of tests and makes adjustments to process/equipment as required. Periodically verifies rollweights against target and records those roll weights on Cast Winder Check sheet. Ensures that recipe verifications are completed at the start of each shift and after every product change. Ensure that all product is properly packaged, correctly labeled, tagged and putaway. Participates in the correct application of the "Hold Card" for all nonconforming product, including initial investigation of cause. Properly operates and connects the push-pull system to railcars as assigned by pump tickets received from scheduling. Properly move, stage, and consume all materials. Return all unused materials to the proper location. Completes daily paperwork and line closeouts. Lifts heavy objects by hand, pallet jack, or forklift Maintains a clean and safe work area, machines, and equipment. Identifies and reports deficiencies in product quality or packaging. Analyze flour with lab instruments. Safely operate lab analytical instruments. Lockout, open, unstack, repair, and restack sifters. Measure levels of flour and feed in storage bins with tape measure. Responsible for sanitation efforts such as recording sanitation duties, performing sanitation duties, and completing work orders assigned to them. Interact with scheduler, elevator, blender, quality team, maintenance, and packer to communicate workflow, milling schedule, and equipment issues. Monitor flour additives, ingredients, and other supplies. Required to assist with the upkeep and quality of bins and silos. Responsible for consistently conducting visual inspections of the FPZ transfer sifter. Set up and monitor finished package weights to ensure that bags conform to specifications. Set up the packer scale weights prior to a run. Check the precision of the check scale prior to the start of the run. Continually check the finished package weights throughout the run. Ensure that the finished product is bagged, sealed, and palletized in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion on structurally sound pallets. Pull samples of product, both prior to packaging, and throughout the run, and run analysis on samples on equipment located in mill control room. Perform the metal detector checks on a scheduled basis set by the quality department and notify supervisor of any substandard conditions. Pull samples prior to the run (or at the startup of packaging) to help ensure conformity to specifications. Samples pulled during a run will normally be one sample per grade, once conformity is verified. For government contracts, one sample will be taken per pallet, for weight and lab testing. Keep bags available and ready to be used, including bags labeled for special customers. Attach labels to bags as necessary. Clean and sanitize all packing and loading areas (including hopper area above packers). Feed any product that did not meet specifications back into the system to rework. Assist in the training of new and existing personnel in any packaging functions/positions. Qualifications On-the-job training is provided. The process technician will learn a variety of other processes which will allow the process team the flexibility to shift resources to areas of demand. The Production Technician will assist and oversee Production Team Members. The Production Technician will assist the production line in the preparation and packaging of food products. This position reports directly to the Production Manager. Pay starts at $22 an hour. Core Responsibilities: Champion the Company's Vision, Mission and Core Values in every action and decision Understands and complies with all safety guidelines Standards of performance (SOP's), Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP's), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP). Responsible for the training and development/ coaching of all team members. Assist with startup, running and stopping/shut down of all production equipment. Perform Quality Assurance and product testing. Including, but not limited to: Moisture, particle size, protein, DON, and incoming inspections Line inspections and clearance Other QA testing as required Maintain production machines and facility equipment through completion of scheduled preventative maintenance on production machinery. Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service. Be engaged in always identifying and helping implement long-term fixes for any reliability issues. Assign and oversee team members assigned to production line, account for output of product and down time Assist with measuring, grading and feeding batches of raw materials into production machinery. Assure proper ingredients, lot numbers and date codes are correct for each product run on the line. Pour materials into machine hopper, ensure conformance to specifications. Feed or place items onto equipment for processing. Assist in cleaning the production area and equipment by sweeping, mopping, and removing debris. Load and unload items from machines, carts, and dollies. Packaging of finished products and prepares them for shipment. Pull damaged or ineffective product off the line. Mark parts or product for identification. Communicates these events to the Production Manager. Place equipment on conveyor belt for further processing. Remove product and machine attachments. Scrape waste material from machine. Read and interpret gauges, record data. Load and unload processing equipment. Any tasks that support the processes of the production & packaging of the products on their line. Must be willing and able to work on the other lines as required by the production schedule. Perform assignments and directives provided by the Manager. Communicates regularly with the Production Manager. Perform all other duties as assigned by Plant Leadership. Qualifications Qualifications and Educational Requirements: High School Diploma preferred. Must be over the age of 18. The ability to obtain a Food Handler's Permit. Previous experience in a food-packaging environment preferred. Since all equipment documents and manuals are written in English, they must have the ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions in English. Possesses knowledge of the structure and function of production equipment. Works efficiently and manages time effectively. Possesses physical strength and stamina required to stand, walk, and lift for long periods of time. Possesses physical dexterity necessary to assemble small and delicate product parts.
