HVAC Sales Internship (Project Engineer) - Summer 2026 Location: Austin, TX Reports to: Account Manager/Executive or Sales Leader FLSA Status: Internship The Opportunity As the Sales Engineer Intern this individual will be responsible for coordinating submittals, equipment selection, pricing and ship dates for each project. Must be detail and customer service oriented and have excellent organizational skills. Position requires a high level of oral and written correspondence with the Sales Team, Customers and Manufacturers to ensure timely completion of assigned projects while maintaining customer satisfaction. Must be able to work well with others in a fast-paced & high-volume environment. Responsibilities Create and maintain job files for each project throughout its duration Optimize the project through the stages of product selection, specifications, plans, estimates, proposals, value engineering and redesigns Manage multiple projects on an ongoing basis Communicate with owners, architects, MEP Consultants and General, Mechanical and Electrical Contractors Organize project related data for order entry Respond to and track IOM & Submittal requests Read, understand and interpret building plans & specifications Develop and grow relationships with customers, contractors, project engineers and manufacturers Determine project requirements, constraints, and sales team responsibilities to meet all of the customer's system design, installation and maintenance expectations Investigate concerns, implement corrective action and communicate with customers and co-workers as necessary to maximize customer satisfaction The Required Profile Working to obtain a Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field Working knowledge of HVAC, estimating, engineering, construction management or contracting environment Working knowledge of MEP consulting, architecture, design, CAD, general contracting, mechanical contracting, engineering or construction industry a plus Strong PC skills in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook Other Skills/Abilities Strategic Skills Ability to learn new skills and knowledge. What your day-to-day will look like: Maintain, monitor, and perform preventive maintenance and continuous operation of all building systems including: fire/life safety, mechanical (HVAC, plumbing, controls), electrical (lighting, primary switch gear), and hot water systems; monitors operation, adjusts, and maintains refrigeration, chilled water, reverse osmosis system, air compressor systems, and air conditioning equipment; and ventilating and hot water heaters; pumps, valves, piping and filters; other mechanical and electrical equipment; record readings and make adjustments where necessary to ensure proper operation of equipment. Responsible for reporting any problems/malfunctions found while demonstrating the ability to analyze the operation of various systems, determine the cause of any problems/malfunctions and take corrective action as required to schedule the maintenance. Comply with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials. Responsible for overseeing the activities of contractors working within the building either as representatives of the building itself or clients operating within the buildings. Responsible for keeping records of buildings rounds and readings, all engineering logs and engineering data sheets. Responsible for informing contractors so that they are informed and knowledgeable with respects to the building's critical functions and the work they are to perform, including an incident contact response list. Responsible for understanding and complying with emergency escalation procedures. This position requires frequent walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, stooping, and working/extending overhead, including: Lifting a minimum of 80 lbs. Using ladders up to 30 ft and working from heights. Climbing a ladder with a 300-lb weight limit while carrying a tool bag weighing approximately 20 lbs. Required Skills and Experience: High School diploma/GED required; military service, union training, vocational or college education is preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license Must successfully pass background, drug/alcohol, and MVR screening process before beginning employment.
