What you'll be working on:
Treating patients via tele-health visits, including telephonic triage calls, video visit appointments, and email follow-ups
Continuous learning during weekly Clinical Rounds and through other modalities
Ongoing collaboration with both virtual and in-office teammates via daily huddles
Utilization of your specific clinical training and opportunities to give exceptional care to patients virtually
Education, licenses, and experiences required for this role:
Completed an accredited FNP program with a national certification
In the past 5 years, practiced as an Advanced Practitioner for at least:
2 years in an outpatient primary care setting seeing patients of all ages (0+), OR 2 years in an urgent care or emergency medicine setting seeing patients of all ages (0+)
Currently licensed in CA with ability to obtain additional state licenses
Ability to work weekday and weekend shifts (every other Saturday AND or Sunday required)
Current shifts range from (6am - 12am PST)

The base hourly range for this role is $59.10 to $65.50 per hour (plus evening and weekend differential) based on a full-time schedule. Final determination of starting pay may vary based on factors such as practice experience and patient care schedule. LifeLong Medical Care is searching for a highly motivated Psychiatrist to join our multidisciplinary team at our Berkeley Admin Clninic - Per Diem position. Under the general supervision of the Associate Medical Director, the Psychiatrist will work with an interdisciplinary team to ensure that quality psychosocial services are delivered to health center patients. Psychiatrists provide direct mental health care to patients who receive primary care at LifeLong Medical Care. Psychiatrists also provide consultation to non-psychiatric providers as well as individual and group supervision to psychiatric advanced practice providers. Patients are referred for psychiatric care from all Health Center/Program locations throughout Alameda and Contra Costa counties.
This position is represented by UAPD. Salaries and benefits are set by a collective bargaining agreement (CBA), and an employee in this position must remain a member in good standing of UAPD, as defined in the CBA.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
Evaluates, diagnoses, and treats patients with mental illnesses through a combination of primarily psychopharmacology and psychotherapy.
Performs initial psychiatric assessments, develops individualized care plans, and implements treatment for the patient.
Assesses patients through interviews, observations, tests, and medical history reviews.
Monitors and records client progress, and amends treatment plan according to patient response.
Provides verbal and written education and counseling to patients, families, and caregivers.
Plans follow-up care, including requests for outside consultations and evaluations.
Maintains patient records necessary for clinic reporting, billing, and quality improvement.
Functions potentially in a variety of settings, including a health center, skilled nursing facilities, supportive housing sites, and in clients' homes.
Provides patients with emotional support and strategies to help manage their disorder.
Stay current with new developments in psychiatry and mental health.
Participates as a member of the site clinical services team and attends clinical team meetings.
Coordinates care with other health team members, including case management and behavioral health staff, clinical consultation with other clinicians.
Acts as an advocate for the patient and liaison with outside agencies as appropriate.
May supervise Advanced Practice Psychiatric Providers (NursePractitioners and Physician Assistants).
Actively participates in internal quality improvement teams and works with members proactively to drive quality improvement initiatives according to the organization's mission and strategic goals, federal and state laws and regulations, and accreditation standards.
Cross clinic work is required over multiple sites.

Medical degree required and must have completed psychiatry residency and board eligible.

Interest in working with a diverse patient population in a community-based organization and sensitivity to their needs and health problems; commitment to a community health philosophy of prevention and primary care.

Job Preferences
Board certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).

Under general direction of Medical Directors at assigned sites, Senior Psychiatric Physician Specialists perform the following example and related duties
Provide direct psychiatric care and consultation
Assess, diagnose and provide psychiatric treatment for patients in an intensive care management setting that may include field work and working closely with families
Work closely with an intensive care management team using multiple therapeutic skills (which include the ability to combine behavioral, environmental and psychopharmacological modalities in treating individuals)
Monitor a caseload of clients regularly as well as provide cross coverage for other psychiatrists
Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team
Participate in clinic quality improvement activities
Serve as a liaison with community behavioral health providers and hospital based psychiatric team

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Possession of a valid license to practice medicine issued by the Medical Board of California or the Osteopathic Medical Board of California*;
AND
Successful completion** of a residency program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or American Osteopathic Association in a Psychiatric medical specialty area (i.e., Board Eligible);
AND
Possession of valid Drug Enforcement Agency registration with the United States Department of Justice (Special Condition)***.

This program has approximately 105 beds and provides residential treatment for substance use disorder (SUD) for up to 90 days. Clients are supported by a team of behavioral health professionals who provide counseling and education for substance abuse disorders, life skills, as well as individual and group therapy.
The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) is an integral part of this interdisciplinary team that supports our clients in navigating evidence-based treatment plans and the healthcare system. The LVN will work with the Health and Wellness team in collaboration with the Addiction Medicine team in the provision of treatment with Medication Assisted Therapy (MAT) for clients with Opiate Use Disorder (OUD) and other substance use disorders (SUD). The LVN will provide support of treatment adherence via client education that assists them in developing strategies for taking their medication regularly and effectively. This position is also expected to Coordinate care for clients with the residential behavioral health team, the addiction medicine team, primary care, and other internal and external healthcare resources for the client.
