Controls, monitors and repairs boilers, turbines, generators and auxiliary power generating plant equipment. As delegated, schedules the repair and maintenance of high- pressure steam boiler, turbo-generator, medical waste incinerators and ancillary equipment that produces energy for end users. Assumes supervisory responsibility and authority in the absence of Chief Engineer, Power Plant. Checks and lubricates pumps, condensers, and air ejectors; check joints for leaks and make repairs. Anticipates power needs, such as those caused by changes in the weather or power supplied by the utility company and starts or stops generator(s) to bring energy production into balance with hospital needs. Records relevant events and facts concerning power plant operations and maintenance. Takes and records gauge and meter readings, including the amount of electricity produced by each generator and power received from the utility company. Maintains and monitors air conditioning tower water levels and operating conditions, adds chemicals to monitor harmful bacteria and viruses conditions and to prevent equipment corrosion. Maintains machinery history logs and records such as time worked on projects and employee attendance. Performs duties of subordinate personnel and performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: BASIC KNOWLEDGE: Minimum of two years Associates Degree or equivalent in mechanical, electrical or related discipline. Completion of two years training in boiler operations and turbo-generator operations generally acquired from a technical school or military service. Requires Stationary Operating Engineer's License from the City of Providence. Supervisory skills to effectively direct the work of others. Analytical ability to plan, schedule and coordinate work projects and to troubleshoot problems. Knowledge of the thermodynamics of steam, the principals of generators and electricity. Knowledge of relevant code requirements and regulations. Working knowledge of a design application (AutoCAD) system preferred. EXPERIENCE: Minimum of five years Power Plant operation experience. Works in areas exposed to electrical, heating and cooling equipment where there is exposure to noise, heat, asbestos, caustic chemicals, etc. and possibility medical waste. Hazards and injuries are minimized by adherence to established safety precautions. Physical ability to climb ladders, carry tools and move and lift equipment, chemical containers and other materials.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following: Implement benefit strategies and programs to ensure overall company competitiveness for benefit and retirement plans Review and analyze changes to federal and state laws pertaining to benefits, and facilitate necessary changes Work closely with external benefit brokers and vendors Manage existing wellness initiatives as well as create, develop, and launch new programs in alignment with company wellness goals Process all benefit plan enrollments and changes, plan documents, and plan regulatory guidelines in accordance with Company policies Manage all employee leaves i.e. FMLA, STD, LTD, and WC for compliance with company policy and applicable laws Direct the planning and execution of open enrollment processes including development of communication materials, onsite presentations, and coordination with HRIS Partner with vendors/brokers to complete required reporting including Form 5500, Summary Annual Reports and Descriptions Research and respond to employee questions regarding all aspects of benefits and act as liaison between employee and insurance carriers/brokers to ensure timely resolution of issues Audit vendor bills; reconcile HRIS and COBRA reports to monthly billing to ensure accurate payment and enrollment; prepare invoices and present bills for timely payment Conduct comprehensive benefits orientation to new hires Manage Service Award Program Responsible for COBRA administration Oversee 401(k) educational program and participates in 401(k) Investment Committee meetings Assist in annual audit and address audit results on internal controls for the 401(k) plan Conduct annual wage & benefit survey, analyze data, and make change recommendations to compensation structure Participate in wage surveys Other projects/duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university A minimum of 2-5 years experience in benefits administration and/or training in a related field. Knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to benefits. Ability to read and interpret documents including legal documents, procedure manuals, policies, government regulations, and business journals. Ability to write routine reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to present information to groups of employees within the organization. Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills and solid listening skills. -Proficiency in Spanish is desirable. -Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
