    Job DescriptionWILDERNESS SKILLS INSTRUCTOR/CAMP COUNSELOR - SEASONAL Early June- July (8 weeks of camps in 9 weeks) Grand Junction & Durango, CO Looking ahead to your summer plans... 5 weeks in Grand Junction, one off week, 3 weeks in Durango for a total of 8 weeks of camps in a 9 week season. For you: $21.00-26.00 - DOE & reimbursement for travel. Outside with kids all summer Learn and Teach Bushcraft and Survival Skills to kids age 6 to 14. Expand your experience in working outside. Increase your experience with outdoor experiential education. Join a team from multiple states and connect with a larger summer camp and bushcraft community. Requirements: Ability to work effectively and dynamically with young people aged 6 - 14 Outdoor skills with bushcraft, survival, outdoor recreation, etc (background preferred but need not be expert). Deliver outdoor skill content curriculum confidently and effectively. Ability to work independently and communicate as a team member. Maintain and administer an organized camp Willing and able to drive to work sites at various locations. FT must be able to commit to full summer work from early June through end of July. All instructors are background checked. The Daily Work: 40 and 32.5 hour work weeks (day camp only) Lead and teach groups of kids outdoor and survival skills including: shelter, knots, knives, fire, navigation, foraging, cordage, fishing, hunting, archery etc. A full day of making a difference for others and being engaging. Work autonomously and interact with parents and public at site locations. Manage safety, curriculum and behavior during programming with groups of 6-9 years old or 9-14 years old. A typical week is working from 8:30-4:30 in a municipal or county park setting, M-F. Camping and traveling will be part of the job and we do not provide resources/reimbursement for housing. Travel between locations is reimbursed- van life works best. We want our students to experience discovery, connect with the natural world and develop initiative, accountability and creativity.
